i know christmas is suppose to be this happy time, but its when i feel the lonliest. everyone talks about meeting up with all their relatives and family and friends and i am just... alone. most of the year im okay but during christmas it hurts alot
I think holidays are the hardest time of the year for people to deal with their mental health issues. Especially during Christmas and New Year’s Eve. It‘s cold and always dark and gloomy outside so you feel like laying in bed the whole day and before you know it the day is over and you didn’t do any productive things. But when you see how other people deal with it by visiting their loved ones or just seem to deal with it a much better way than you, you suddenly feel lost and it starts to feel kind of lonely. It feels so heavy in the heart during this time of the year. I can totally understand your feelings tbh. I for my part try to do these little things whenever I feel down or depressed:
• watch my favorite movie, anime or series (usually Christmas movies of ghibli movies since they motivate me)• create a playlist of my favorite songs • clean my room and closet while listening to the playlist • play with my cats and give them a treat • eat some fruits since the vitamins might help you• drink at least 3l water • eat 2-3 meals that I cook myself (it‘s fun cooking something for yourself and it kills time)• bake cookies for my family or co workers • drink black tea with cake or something sweet• shower and do a face mask • if I‘m in the mood, do my makeup and take selfies • take a break from Social Media • do a little work out session or go to the gym• call a friend and talk with them for hours • make a list of things I want to buy for myself lmao just because it gives me a good feeling • do my nails and shave
These are just a few of many things that I do to make myself better. None of these activities are a solution tbh. If you have mental health issues in general, it‘s always better to tell someone and work on it with a professional. Or talk to people about it who are dear to you and whom you know would understand. It‘s especially hard during this time of the year. But I hope you take care of yourself love. I‘m here whenever you feel like talking.
