I’ll take my cue to go Stand 'neath the spotlight's glow And give them one hell of a show
Anna and the Apocalypse (2018) dir. John McPhail
WIP on a piece I’m doing for Anna and the Apocalypse! Trying to distract myself from TUA so I don’t get too worked up.
Movie talk: Anna and the Apocalypse
OK so recently a copy of Anna and the Apocalypse leaked online that’s the ‘Festival’ cut of the movie which is a lot longer and DEFINITELY a lot better. The fact that some scenes are in it that weren’t before, songs are longer is always something I love.
I mean Nothing’s Gonna Stop Me Now (X), Give Them A Show (X) and even I Will Believe have longer moments in that version makes me hope they make it OFFICIAL with a Director’s cut blu-ray at some point in the future.
Honestly Anna and the Apocalypse is one of the Best zombie movies I’ve seen in years and it NEEDS to be talked about more than it is.
I mean it takes a simple concept thats been done a thousand times: Zombie apocalypse in a country and adds some twists to it. Like High school students having to go from kids to fighters, its a fucking musical as well and its set at Christmas time. How many movies do you think do that? Take 3 Movie Genres and mash them up into something so spectacular you’re like “DAMN I WANT MORE OF THIS WORLD!” and IF they ever do an Anna and the Apocalypse 2, I wanna see what happens to the survivors after the end of the first movie. Where do they go from here? Do they trust people or do they not? If that ever happens I know so many fans of the film will be BEYOND happy.
happy birthday, anna.
For the angst meme. Number 10 with the ship of your choice.
note: This particular prompt spun off into something not shippy in my brain; dysfunctional relationship between parent and adult child, go?
“Mother!”
‘Mother’. Not ‘Mom’. They were doing this again. Inwardly, Hannah Shepard sighed. “Anna,” she said, as her daughter sat up and swung her legs over the edge of the cot.
“What the–” Anna cut herself off, green eyes wide. “What are you doing here?”
“It’s been three years since I’ve seen you,” she said. “Why in hell didn’t you call me?”
drew anna to try and make myself stop being sad about the original trilogy for a while.
Character trinket things bc that’s something I actually put a bunch of thought into at one point:
Ren Shepard has her mother’s wedding ring (a family heirloom, worn by her grandmother first) and a little amulet of St Michael given to her by her aunt Nela; she carries both on the same chain her dogtags are on.
Anna tends more to tattoos than to physical trinket type things (she’s covered in ink, all carefully placed to not be visible when she’s in uniform because Admiral Shepard’s kid can’t be looking like some sloppy non-comm, oh no), mostly because she’s learned to travel light; her exception is one set of her late father’s dogtags, which she wears next to her own.
- Ben’s little thing is the key to the motorcycle with an actual antique combustion engine he had back on Earth, pulled from a scrapyard; he doesn’t really need the reminder of where he grew up, but if he ever forgets, it’s there.
Blair, on the other hand, does not buy into your sentimental shit, because it’s just *stuff*, who cares. People kill each other over stuff and it’s stupid.
