✨Book Review: The Poisoned City by Anna Clark. I cannot truncate my book review of Anna Clark’s brilliant and riveting account of Flint’s water crisis. It is required reading and necessary. You can read my full review in the link in my bio. However I will share a bit. I met Anna in Michigan, when I lived there from 2006-2014. She hired me as a photographer for a nonprofit organization in Detroit. When we met, I just felt like she was such a kindred spirit. She was tenderhearted and open to learning and seeking knowledge and had brilliant writing abilities. Since leaving Michigan, I’ve been a silent fan of her work. Always checking to see what books she’s read. What thoughts she had for those books and just mesmerized by her ideas. When I saw she published a book about Flint’s water I knew I had to read it. Finally bought myself a copy and figured I would read it when I bought it but that didn’t happen. @blackradicalreader and I had been wanting to do a buddy read on any book and I figured now was my chance to read her writing. So I introduced this book as an idea and it was gladly agreed upon. I am so glad we agreed on this book. It has been the most necessary book I’ve read in a long time. This book should be required reading. Hands down, Anna Clark is brilliant and her writing is captivating and engaging. Her thoughtfulness and care she took, along with her impeccable journalism and research shows how passionate she is about telling the truth. Thank you @annaleighclark for your words.
