Annaugust: Day 1
Heyo! I'm gonna be sharing a fun fact about Annalynn every day throughout all of August! Hopefully I can get a sketch to go with each day as well!
To start with: if you're already familiar with the game from Steam or the Nintendo Switch, the game did not actually start out as a 2021 release title! I initially made it back in 2016 for a game making competition, all in the span of two weeks. This version of the game is much more primitive - there's only one level that loops endlessly, the controls are more stiff, and the enemy AI is a bit awkward, but it laid the groundwork pretty well for what would become the game you can play today!
The character designs themselves have changed a lot over the years as well; I don't have exact dates for these but I'd date them around February-May 2016.
Despite how old these designs are (especially Anna's), it's still fun to come back to them and try out something different every now and then! I always felt thought experiments like these where you'd stick with only the older versions of designs were interesting. That's all for this first day's fun fact, bit of a long one! I'll link tomorrow's fact in this post once it goes live.
