Polk looks like she's getting ready to hunt Deebs' tail.
Oh always. They love chasing each others’ tails.
Currently it’s storming bloody murder outside and they are scared of the thunder, so they’re sitting butt-to-butt on the back of the sofa, making sure they have eyes on the entire condo.

“to make it exactly the way I want it” This sounds so intimidating. I’ve been in my condo for two years and the walls are still sparse because I have no idea what art to buy or where to hang it. It seems like such a huge commitment.
Oh, see, that’s what I love about common wall art, it’s the opposite of a commitment! You put hooks in the walls and you hang stuff on them, but if you don’t like something you can just take it down and replace it. I just got rid of like 80% of the posters I’ve been keeping since college or even before, kept the ones I liked, and realized I could by entirely fucking new art to replace some of the ones I don’t want on my wall anymore. It’s been SO LONG since I bought new art, I’m all stoked for it!
My advice to you is to find a mall with a poster shop, or go to a college campus bookstore during the first week of school (so like, this week) and find a bunch of cheap-ass posters you like in standard sizes (16x20, 18x24, 13x19), put ‘em up on your wall with thumbtacks in places you look at often (the end of a hallway, above your bed, whatever wall you see when you’re sitting at your computer). If you still like them in a month, start buying frames for them, and if you don’t, buy a new poster!
Or, if you have a bit more budget to spend, go to Bed Bath & Beyond or Target and find some shit you like that comes either mounted or pre-framed. BB&B especially has some really great decor -- it’s mass-produced but it’s still pretty! Target also sells decals you can stick onto the wall and then peel off when you don’t like them anymore, as does Ikea. Those are SO much fun.
Art doesn’t have to be a commitment -- it can be a whim that turns out well! That’s what I did with my embroidery hoops, I just thought “This will probably look good, and I have spackle if it doesn’t” and I went to town.

When I lived in a house I had plants stolen from the front yard every spring; when I put in new plants they'd come steal the new ones.
You totally have my sympathy for that, but I have to admit my first thought was also that if that were happening to me I’d put a REALLY LOUD ALARM under one of them, not because it would do any good but because it would make some suburban garden thief poop their pants in fear at least once. :D
