Teaching in Annecy
Thus came one of the biggest and craziest trips we have ever experienced. The plan was that my girlfriend was going to work teaching Spanish in Annecy: a little town south of Switzerland. At the same time she would visit Switzerland and then come back to Paris and we would embark on our journey however just like everything else that happens when hanging around her, it all went the opposite way. She left to Switzerland and everything was going as planned. It was mid June in the year 2010 and the World Cup was taking place in South Africa. I remember the day I arrived to Paris for the third time, Italy was playing Slovenia. I arrived to my girlfriends loft to be greeted by her roomate telling me to call my girlfriend urgently. I picked up the phone and she was all excited giving me directions to where I was suppose to go. It turned out that a teacher had gotten sick and they needed a replacement right away. So there I was after being on a 7 hour flight, exhausted and jet lagged grabbing my suitcase and getting on a train to meet up with her boss. The only thing was keeping my energy level up was that I was going to be reunited with my girlfriend for the third time in Europe. We taught for a week and we enjoyed every single second we spent together. Not only were we getting paid but we had fun with the students. My girlfriend even dressed one of her boys as Madonna for a skit! It was then and there that I had discovered my love for teaching and realized I was good at it. The week came to an end and it was time to go back to Paris. We packed our bags and walked down the hills admiring the Swiss Alps until we reached the train station. Excited to finally embark on our Eurotrip we just wanted to crash on the train however the national viarail was on strike. There were no trains back to Paris yet alone no trains at all! We had no other option than just open our luggages and sleep in the station until the next day. I had never imagined myself sleeping like a homeless man at a station but the fatigue was too much and we just passed out. The next day we boarded the train to Paris but it was too late the problems had already begun! To be continued.....
