Workshop Brief Collages
Annegret Soltau (born 16 January 1946) is a German visual artist, born in Lüneburg, Germany. Her work marks a fundamental reference point in the art of the 1970s and 1980s. Photomontages of her own body and face sewn over or collaged with black thread are the most well-known works of the German artist.
“My main interest is the integration of body processes in my work, in order to connect body and spirit as equal parts.”
”When I tear out the face of my own portrait, it is not the aspect of destruction which interests me, but I want to find new meanings and significant connections.“
I find these interesting and decided i would use it for inspiration to create a collage of my own for this workshop brief. I think they are odd and create a reaction to the viewer as its something everyone can relate and is familiar with, a face, but totally wack and out of place within it self and the first impressions will be of negative feelling towards it which will then provoke curiosity to understand it, and i like that.
