A car in the parking lot at work today had a Sabres license plate cover. It, of course, immediately made me think of you. (This is Maryland, so not as weird as that time I saw a Jets hoodie in rural Missouri, but still.)

My sister lives in Maryland but doesn’t have a Sabres license plate cover so this means there’s at least TWO whole Sabres fans there! She tells me there’s a Bills bar that gets quite busy on football Sundays so possibly there are other Sabres fans too.

(I once shocked a Canadian cafe owner in England by wearing a Buffalo Sabres hoodie. He actually came over to be like the Buffalo Sabres??? In MY English cafe???)

Okay look I THOUGHT ABOUT IT like I’d actually thought of it earlier (because my mother keeps saying he looks like a dust covered stuffed animal that’s been left on a shelf too long…) BUT HERE’S THE THING: Dusty was the name of this stuffed dog my sister carried everywhere with her as a child and everybody knows him and I’d never hear the end of it for “naming my rabbit after him.”

Not gonna make everyone keep seeing me reblog the long post but okay I have to say this they wrote an abo AU and they admitted they know almost nothing about it “because I don’t like sex or slash” but they didn’t like the concept of having six potential abo genders (ie abo + binary male/female) so you don’t have a gender until you biologically present and so if you have a heat you suddenly get female pronouns and alphas get male pronouns and betas are biologically “genderless and therefore without reproductive organs” and I want to hit something

if my family can’t handle Captain they DEFINITELY cannot handle Girts, or the Latvian s. I do love naming dogs Kevin (😘 @ The Proposal) but I have a relative with that name and it might get weird. That’s why I also can’t use Sam, which is a FANTASTIC dog name.

That is exactly what I thought you meant 😂 I did think about SW Cody, but I’m also a Western nerd which is why names like Ace and Cody and Maverick appeal to me.

(I’m also imagining someone grabbing SW Cody by the shoulders and presenting him to someone like “This is Cody, we call him Marshall Commander on formal occasions.”)

My family keeps sending me messages bitching about Captain, I’m afraid we can’t handle more adventurous names here.

I like Jack as a dog name (I named a foster dog Jack before) but idk he doesn’t look like a Jack? I just don’t see it for him. I’m kind of leaning towards Cody though, I’ve been trying it on him (he has not stated a preference).

I’ve always thought it would be a cool name for some sort of shepherd. I just can’t see calling it out the door and I don’t want to call my dog Rick as a nickname.

What’s your nerdy reason for Cody because I can think of at least two…

Oh for sure, like on one hand I’m impressed with some of what Bob did and on the other I’m livid that he did not hire a professional because a lot of this stuff would not have happened if a professional wasn’t involved (ie I wouldn’t be cleaning up Bob’s mess 50 years later). Plus, as I learned when I was house hunting, a lot of time the newly flipped houses you see in old neighborhoods are done by amateurs/hobbyists meaning that they might look really pretty and new, but the moment you look more deeply into it (or have an inspector come out) you find that a lot of stuff was done incorrectly or cheaply and that you’re going to have to repair it later yourself. Like one house I put a bid on, we could already tell that in a few years the wood laminate in the kitchen would have to be stripped because the owners installed it themselves and they did it wrong (they put the pieces in too tightly with no room for them to shift, meaning they were buckling upwards). So I kind of hate DIY people but also apparently now I’m going to be one. I don’t like this feeling.

I know I have a lot of insulation because the home inspector told me he has “an insulation fetish” (direct quote) and was Absolutely Titillated by the volume of insulation in my attic.

However, it seems that the upstairs is the primary location of all of the flies, because every time I go to work on the master bedroom I begin by putting on my gloves and punching the flies, by which I mean there will be at least 2-3 flies sitting on the biggest window and I punch them dead and then vacuum them up. So. I’m going to try using a fogger first before calling a professional but yes it is a Problem.

Ugh dude there is so much wood paneling and shag carpet in this house. Thankfully only two bedrooms have shag carpet, and the stairs, but GOD are they gross (like they actually feel gross, the carpet on the stairs is unpleasant to the touch). Also the shag on the stairs is so thick that it’s actually hard to hack through it with a boxcutter. And there is SO MUCH WOOD PANELING EVERYWHERE! It’s in the master bedroom, the living room, the parts of the bathroom that aren’t pink tile, the basement stairs, the regular stairs, and the accent wall that I pulled down only to find it was there to cover up the fucked up window-wall. I have to get rid of the living room next and I’m honestly afraid of what’s behind it because it might not be drywall at all.

Thank you! I’m honestly shocked that I’ve been this industrious because I’m typically lazy af. Not turning on my computer when I’m there does help. And once I force my ass to actually go to the house I usually am able to get myself to start working on something.

I love green and want to paint the living room a shade of green that everyone I know hates, but even I don’t like the green carpet. And I’ve never seen that movie but I know it’s a horror movie so I’m guessing that was a creepy discovery.
