i might have spelled it wrong but, if you ever go to trader joe's they call their version cookie butter, it's got a consistancy like peanut butter
I’ve never been to a Trader Joe’s and don’t really want to try it, but I did have a friend in the UK tell me that you could get some sort of speculaas butter there (I think they call it Lotus paste or something idk). It sounds intriguing, I didn’t know you could buy it here; I’ve never had it, only had the cookies themselves. (The spelling changes depending on if you’re talking to the Dutch or the Belgians I think.)

I’m late to this party but I’ve been cooking by myself recently and have done this many times. We’re doing great here.
It’s the stupidest monkey-brain impulse but I’m staring at this pan like. “The oil isn’t really doing anything. It’s probably not that hot. You should touch it to see if it’s actually getting hot because maybe it’s not getting hot and that’s why the oil isn’t heating up?” We have an electric stovetop and some of the burners are basically dead and others take a long while to heat up so I”m like “oh I bet it just hasn’t heated fully yet!” Except It Had.
