Cherise knew she had to go back to Peter’s office. Two things weighed on her mind since they had last seen each other and she couldn’t stay away much longer. She had waited until darkness was a proper cover and slipped into his office. She wished she had brought more than a few containers of dessert leftovers. He was likely well fed at home and didn’t need to feed him, but berry cobbler was a treat she didn’t make very often and banana pudding had been a request from her children. Maybe next time she’d take a special request from Peter. “Hey?” Cherise peered her head around a corner and looked inside, trying to search in the dim light for her lawyer. “I uh, brought you something. We had some dessert at dinner so, uh...oh god I hope I’m not talking to an empty room...” She leaned in the doorway and hugged onto it for a second. Cherise kept her eyes closed and tried to think of Mr. Banning in her mind. Suddenly she thought of her father. It wasn’t just his words, but she was comparing them. Within her mind, they did seem to look a great deal alike... anoffendingshadow
