A question about the Tarot readings you've done so far. I don't know much about Tarot tbh. Have it changed or confirmed your opinion about McLennon or Paul and John's relationship. I think it's interesting how well it sort of fits the Tumblr most common narrative about them.
It changed my opinion. Because even when I liked them, and really liked the quotes and audios, a part of me didn’t think that actually happened. I mean, not how the cards describe it. For example: I thought that they kissed (kind like a joke), but wasn’t very hopeful of a sexual relationship. And never believed that they would call themselves “boyfriend” (I even asked this in one reading because some people believe that).
Other thing that changed was my opinion of their dynamic. I felt like John was “more” in love with Paul that Paul with John. Reading the cards have gave me the side of Paul, which is no less to what John felt. I actually thought that all the “chasing” was from John’s part, but now it seems that actually, Paul was very obsessed with him too. It is the way that they showed it, that makes you feel different.
I’m also very fascinated for that (Tumblr narrative). Especially India. I was veeery wary of that reading. I wanted it to be the most “real” of them all, I did the questions more than once and with different angles, but the results were the same. So I kept it like it was. There are still some things that I need to understand, but very much of the problems that they had seem to be related with the times they were living.
I know it’s very difficult to follow these kind of interpretations, me, as a reader, I felt it too. I have doubted about these readings, but at the same time, I think that some truth it has to be there. Now I’m more accustomed to John’s energy, for example, but when I tell you that I felt his messy head in the beginning, I FELT IT! 😂. Overall, we can still do this and have some entertainment for the day, probably we will know the full tea in 70 years in the future haha.
Thank you for this ask, and sorry for writing too much, but even when sometimes I have to deal with very heavy energies, I’ve enjoyed so far this McLennon trip! 😁
What's your favorite current telenovela? I'm always looking for another.
Anoncito!!!!!! Thank you for asking me about my favorite topic in the world. I talked about it this evening in irl so I'm already hyped. HERE I COME BEBÉ.
LA REINA DEL FLOW (THE QUEEN OF FLOW): Count of Monte Cristo meets the reggaeton era. But this is not about music, is about three friends making decisions that'll affect everyone around them forever. This has one of the BEST villians ever. He's the fucking worst. First season is on Netflix, and the second is currently airing in Colombia (I get my fix from Telegram groups lol). Charly Flow is my only love and I'll protect him without thinking of consequences.
AMOR DE MÃE (A MOTHER'S LOVE): Talking about villians, Adriana Steves stars in this one! If you don't know who she is, Adriana played the iconic Carminha in Avenida Brasil (best brazilian telenovela since O Clone). I started watching this when I was in Sao Paulo the summer (feb 2020) before covid fucked us all and gd, it made my heart jump and broke and restore itself every episode. It completed its run this April (corona got in the way of course, had to way a long time for the last episodes to drop), but it's a beautiful story about motherhood and the things you do for the ones you love, even if those aren't always right.
MARIPOSA DE BARRIO: Based on the true story of singer Jenni Rivera, this one is not for the faint of heart. 80+ episodes of A LOT. Thank you Telemundo for my life. I can't even begin to describe it, but I made my bff watch this last year and the amount of Whatsapp audios of her screaming about something that happened on an episode are, uhm, hysterical. I can't recommend this enough, even if years has passed since I first watched it. This one is also on Netflix.
PACTO DE SANGRE (BLOOD PACT): Well. I'm only throwing this into the mix cause I started watching it again. Wacky, insane, best villian Chilean tv has ever seen, heavy commentary on violence against women, sex work and how men will do anything to get away with murder. Idk if it's available in other countries but boi, I'll die on this hill of violence and poor decision making skills. This one has an episode so SHOCKING that I’m still recovering about it, with a twist I never saw coming I swear. Also, lowkey love how much this show look like an old school telenovela (but filmed in hdtv).
Bonus: I'm not a big fan of Turkish telenovelas but Bir Zamanlar Çukurova (Bitter Lands or Züleyha) is currently airing here in my country and I'm kinda digging it? Maybe it's because of the UNMATCHED 70s setting (costume department of this show deserves all the awards) AND the pretty ladies. Specially the pretty ladies. I can't cope.
Even if full conversations aren't a thing between them, it's impressive that both of them lasted years without saying those three words. And with all the rage always threatening to spill everywhere, tiny spots of mutual aversion always staining their now cordial interaction, Beth thought she'd be the first to say them.
She was wrong. She waited too long to say something. And he'd beat her to it.
Sometimes she fantasized that all those bottles of bourbon, and hundreds of glasses drunk at his bar, were real poison. It could be a nice metaphor or whatever, because she's sure she's been dying slowly and painfully since the day they met. All those times there was a gun to her head? That would be a better way to say goodbye to this world. At least she shouldn't be dealing with all of his nonsense day after day.
Yet, she chose to stay.
Thing is there's no one to blame but herself. An histeric laughter inside her brain reminds her the thruth: Bitch, you asked for it.
That voice also sounds like him.
But that's what happens when you're so in love with money as they both are. The money made. The money they have. The money they can't seem to agree on sharing. At least parts of it.
It's always about money. Only that she's not having it anymore. This is really asking for what's fair.
"I hate you."
Rio looks so much younger than he really is —given that she knows his birthday, his place of birth, the first time he got arrested, every single piece of information about him thanks to that info Phoebe and Dave gave her a long time ago— saying that phrase. And Beth has never seen him as a kid, like one of her own, or god forbid, like Dean, but he sounds as young as he could be for a man in his forties. Saying things to her that probably means once, but expired a long time ago.
And they been doing what this for a decade (and he definitely didn't poisoned her but maybe enable her drinking, not that Beth'll admit she has a problem period) so if he's chosing to say this now, in the middle of her bedroom late at night, both of his hands in fists, is—
Cute.
It's endearing.
When does Rio became less of a threat and more of a—
Perhaps she could try to take him seriously. Even though they're partners and all at, the man carries a gun with him every second of the day. She knows it, it has been in bed in between her cleavage more times she's willing to admit.
She has changed a lot in 10 years. And so is he. They've changed a lot, so she won't indulge on his latest temper tantrum. Yeah, yeah, guns. Yeah, yeah, kidnaping. She shouldn't be joking about, both of them done horrible things but they're pass it. Supposedly. There's always a risk of going back to square one.
So, instead of trying to force his hand for more money, to remind him they both have a seat at the same table, that this kingdom is run by both of them, Beth comes to stand in front of him, her fingers trying to smooth the crease that's already a wrinkle in his frown.
Hi, for the 40 Questions — Meme for Fic Writers :):)
13. What’s the best writing advice you’ve ever come across?
37. Talk about your current wips.
ty anon bebé 😏
13. What's the best writing advice you've ever come across?
You should know that I'm really bad at following advice or rules about how a text should be written. Last month I purchased my very first writing related book, because I was feeling definitely lost about it. But I think it come across something as simple as: If you wanna write, then read. Read, read, read, everything that comes your way. Don't be afraid, if you start writing, to imitate your favorites and the way they use language, characterization, build up scenes, tone and atmosphere, etc. Nothing is really original; everything is a remix (that's from me to you lol). Mimesis is key in art and definitely in fanfiction too, so you'll find your style down the road. For me this is as important as writing itself.
37. Talk about your current wips
and who is talking about us (if we don't let ourselves be seen)
a multichapter monster birthed from two prompts and a trope (because FINALLY I'm learning my way to it). Beth and Rio have a new deal: for their business to prospere, they agree to stop seeing each other if they meet once a year in a museum. Inspired by the art class comment Mick said in S3, my love for romcoms and me being pretentious as fuck.
la familia nunca abandona
lol. Bad Bunny drops a new song and I go fucking crazy. But, I resolved what do with my La Reina del Flow loosely inspired previous wip. This is about Rio taking down Nick with the help of Beth. Expects lots of betrayal and angst.
de nuestra serie ya no salen temporadas III
This has no title yet, but it ain't from the original two part instalment. It's a prequel. Now I want it to be a series. PWP to the night they agreed to watch Money Heist together. This is me just practicing my public duolingo smut lesson HAHAHA.
i’d be like, the comic relief tbh??!!!!! i live for that shit, and the protagonist role is??? too much responsibility??????? no no i’d rather be funny but also badass if needed
