As the scepter touched Sterling's chest he was powerless against the rush of purpose that filled him. Every fear, every thought, every care he had melted away, replaced with one singular command. One singular desire to serve.
"Yes, Master." He said, without hesitation. There wasn't room inside him for hesitation or doubt anymore. There was only Loki and there was only his orders, wrapping around his brain like silk and blanketing, suffocating, his true self underneath.

Sterling was getting so sick of these threats, these games Loki liked to play. If he wanted him dead he would have killed him ages ago. Instead, he felt it was far more fun to poke him from time to time.
Most often with an insult. Sometimes with a dagger. Aggressively.

Finally.
Sterling had come as soon as he had heard they caught Loki. After Darcy's death they'd been chasing after Loki and their children before more harm could be done, but the trickster was more elusive than they had bargained for.
He had stopped in the hallway to confirm some of the details and make sure it was all true when he heard a pair of tiny feet sprinting after him. Startled, Sterling looked up only to see Phoe, Loki and Darcy's youngest child heading for him, a group of agents chasing after her yelling that she had gotten loose.
On instinct, he dropped to his knee and held out his arms for the child. Where would she go now? What would SHIELD do with her?
