The gatekeepers and the cheerleaders
The key’s fallen off the ring
Who is holding the door for you
And who’s going to take a swing
The breakdown
The meltdown
The process
The grind
Dig a little deeper
What will you find?

time to put in the work.
submit the reports.
do the workout.
send the emails.
the never ending to-do list gets longer and longer.
it's hard work to become a legend.
sometimes the gatekeepers were posted at the gates for no reason at all.
the riddles they give you offer no valid qualifications, no reason for their hoops, and yet, we jump.
the higher we get, the closer we are to the doorway, the more obstacles they throw. the hoop is alight. the riddle is unforgiving. there is no right answer.
the truth, the thing I so desperately need to put forth, even anonymously, is that the people who hold the keys are really just twiddling their thumbs. we often hear ‘nobody knows what they’re doing’, but truly, some do not. their power is unsubstantiated, and they have no reason to even hold the keys.
to the same riddle, you may give the same answer, and get told by one, correct. told by the other, definitely not.
they don’t know the answer.
they only know to sometimes say no.
and sometimes, say yes.
