Like, there’s nothing wrong with it in my eyes. :) One of the artists I follow was just chosen by the creator of his favorite video game to draw a continuation comic, and pretty sure it’s in no short part because of all the fanart he drew. Oh I totally get what you mean! Like, most of what I’ve learned from teaching myself to draw over the past few years has been from drawing A:TLA and Korra fanart, or going back to middle school and high school, drawing Haruhi Suzumiya and Code Geass fanart like a fuckin weeb ass weeb

I think a lot of the problem with me though is that because I’ve been drawing mostly fanart for so long, I don’t trust myself when it comes to drawing anything original - it almost kind of scares me in a way?

Whenever I practice drawing things that aren’t fanart-related, they’re mostly just in the realm of gesture drawings and life drawings. If I try and draw something straight from my imagination, it never turns out like I originally pictured it in my head, which frustrates me even more and gets me more stuck in only being able to draw from references. And I still want to get into animation (or even just illustration if that doesn’t work out somehow), and so many of those careers rely on the artist being able to trust their own ideas enough to put it on paper, even if there is a lot of direction from someone else behind the scenes. But then I worry about it like “oh my sense of humor is too stupid and gross to get me hired anywhere” or “it’d be cool to storyboard for action but I can’t keep up with how action scenes are made to save my goddamn life”, so my trust/comfort zone is in fanart - because a lot of the time, it is safe for me. And I wanna break out of it somehow, but I don’t know how.

28. If someone were to draw a piece of fanart for your story, which story would it be and what would the picture be of?

Okay, so there are like two bc like I don’t think I’ve ever had scenes drawn from my fics and if I could draw, that’d be fuckin’ great as shit but I fuckin’ can’t

But okay so I’d love to see Clint’s fully tattooed body from There’s a good kind of pain ‘cause the tattoos are supposed to cover up his scars and there are the silly little ones and then the big black arrows and just his last name on his collarbone and like aesthetically, Clint is just so cool in that fic, I think?

And then maybe the scene towards the end of Undercover, Underground, and Under Duress where Clint and Bucky are both bloody and wrecked and Clint’s still cuffed and they’re standing face-to-face and Bucky says “I love you” and Clint asks “Can we leave?” ‘cause they’re wrecked and Clint can’t hear a goddamn thing and I just imagine him with a tired puppy face bc he’s so reliant on Bucky at that point and just… yeah.

23. Name a fic you’ve written that you’re especially fond of & explain why you like it.

Alright, so BACK WHEN I WAS YOUNG JUSTICE TRASH (which will never end, I am always YJ trash), I wrote a really good fic that was just a massive analysis of Artemis’ dynamic with her dad, so I’m really proud of Daughter to Father because it’s a bunch of different ideas and I keep getting ideas for it and just never getting around to writing it. And Artemis is super interesting and drives me nuts because she’s so much fun to write and analyze.

Uhh, idk how really to go about saying it, but I don't think there is anything you could say or do that would ever make me hate you or even dislike you. After following you I've come to very strongly believe that you are a good person. I can't hate a good person. Even if you ever say/do something I don't completely agree with (which never deserves hate messages, no matter what), I won't ever stop believing that you have a good intentions and a good heart.

even if its just one person, hearing this really makes me feel relieved..

be assured that i will never take this for granted or take advantage of it. there are a lot of people out there who use those loyal to them and who feel this way about them as a free ticket to be an asshole on purpose because those people will always have their backs, but let me just say that i will never, ever do that.
