I find that whole talk about "Duty and Sacrifice" to be the biggest bullshit ever spouted by a fandom (in my experience so far ofc). Some of you guys put duty and sacrifice in this pedestal, you praise your favorite ladies for it and cry for them when these sacrifices lead to their bloodshed and tears. Any contrary action by other characters is deemed selfish, so God forbid - your fav would never. Instead, they get used and suffer for it, then people complain that readers can only theorize about them dying or being used again as though their story arc wasn't leading to that the entire time already. When I dare interpret it for how it is: I'm fetishizing their pain. Me, the one who would actually like them to challenge the norms they are born in and break away from them, I'm the one fetishizing their pain. Not the people who think dUtY AnD SaCrIfIcE is their fav's highest virtue.
Sure.
