Okay. Before I go ahead and give it the 120/100 I think it deserves, I’m going to let everyone know... I almost deducted all 100 points. I liked the movie. I liked the 80s summer adventure with friends, the nostalgia. I liked the actors. I thought it was fun and interesting. For about half the movie. Then I became bored. I got annoyed that this horror movie didn’t have anything horrifying going on. I was annoyed that it appeared to set itself up as “kid and his whacky friends save the day”.
But then he left the station, and I saw how much movie was still left... so I knew something interesting had to happen at the end.
They, of course, end up killing my favorite character, which I’m upset about, but I can forgive because of what killing this character ended up doing for the ending.
The unexpected ending and what I think will be under a spoiler, in case you’re looking at this and haven’t seen it, along with my ESE score.

IMDB Summary:
After suspecting that their police officer neighbor is a serial killer, a group of teenage friends spend their summer spying on him and gathering evidence, but as they get closer to discovering the truth, things get dangerous.
Nonsensical Thoughts:
Summer of 84 (2018) is essentially what would happen if Stephen King had written Disturbia. When will the 80’s nostalgia go off to war? Or at least the kid side of it. I want to see what the college kids were doing. My parents were in college in the 80’s, I’d like more films that show that experience through the lens of nostalgia. Will I have to make that film? But, I digress.
This was an entertaining watch. The kids were great and the script was solid. If you are looking for a slasher film, this is not it, but it is a good mystery horror.
