A fragment of an old hymn. May your tears grant me sight of what was, Naam Ya; Of the end of the war, of the breaking dawn, When the spawn of the Snake had now fallen forth, and the guts they had spilled turned to earth once more. As the clouds of their blood start to settle down, and the dawn mixes rain and the light with wind, and naught can be heard but the songs of Her knights, as they claim all creation is Hers once more. Show us now, on this day, of VenSé Dahak. As she looks upon lands, now barren of life, Looming high over clouds that try as they might, cannot veil away scars that now shape whats below. Could she count, sisters hers that were slain this morn? Could she pick, out of dirt, the bodies she'd known? As the last living beasts and mortals¹ alike, Had begun crawling ways out from underneath. She watches as they writhe upon arm and face, A moment as her eyes pull away from them, But she knows what she must, and her role is clear, And so thus she descends, and her foot meets ground Fragile earth, weakened still by immortal war, Groans and churns just like sand under sandal step Yet it too knows what next must be done for them, Daughters gone of the First must be laid to rest. Then VenSé, standing tall, takes a single breath, And the Wind bows her head to the Queen's chosen, As she deigns graciously to all those below Of the fate of the land that they trespass on: "Flee yourselves from this land, for a year from now, I will wake, bury all of my sisters here, Beneath stone, beneath soil, beneath snow and tree, I won't care what remains of you flick'ring souls." "But return in one year and one day; by then Stone and dirt will have set, and if ice might thaw, Then the lakes, rivers both will run swift and clear. I won't care what remains of you lost, wretched souls." And that's all that she says to all those that hear, As she sets herself down, in the sole clear space, Twixt the dead-bodied flesh of those lost this morn, Crossing legs, head in hand, as she waits one year...
