18. Some Sad News
Sulli bit her lip, peeking up at Jongin, not quite sure just how to break the news. Hiding the broken skateboard behind her back, she puffed her cheeks as she wracked her brain for a perfectly legit reason to how she’d broken Jongin’s favorite skateboard. She hadn’t meant to, and she didn’t want to see Jongin angry, but how was one to explain or get away when the evidence was right in her hands. It was as if a four year old had embodied sulli at the moment, fidgeting and looking anywhere but at Jongin.
It’d all started with her stubbornness to learn how to skateboard, and when Jongin hadn’t been looking she’d secretly taken the skateboard on a little running spree down the road. Of course she knew Jongin would found out sooner or later, but she assumed that he’d be ok with her borrowing it for a while - presumably returning it one piece of course. But, her excitement had gotten the better of her, and once she’d mastered her balance on the board, she began trying all sorts of tricks. Success had ultimately gotten to her ego, causing her to try to railslide -everything had been good at first, she’d successfully slid down the railing but then she decided to try to land on a kickflip- and then thing went downhill. Landing at an odd angle, the skateboard broke under the impact and Sulli fell to the ground, rubbing her ankle. The pain in her ankle passed away quickly, but the broken skateboard laid there, staring at Sulli accusingly.
Opening her mouth to make an excuse, on second thought, she closed it again - an excuse would probably make the situation worst. Her feet drawing circles as her eyes looked toward the ground, she meekly said, “Jongin…I’m sorry but” puffing her cheeks she quickly said, “I took your skateboard and then and then…well, it broke.” Taking out the broken skateboard from behind her back, she closed her eyes, head down, unable to meet Jongin’s gaze. “I’m sorry!” she said again, hoping that he wouldn’t be too upset nor sad at the current state of his skateboard. Feeling guilty, Sulli bit the insides of her lip, unsure of how she could make it up to him.
