★ - Why did I chose to rp this character?
Well I didn’t really chose it honestly just happened. I’ve only rp’d one other canon character ever. And they were vastly…VASTLY different from Billy Bones of Black Sails. The rest of my rp experience is with OCs.

Billy Bones from book Treasure Island always intrigued me because we got so very little information about him. He’s hiding, he can be kind but he’s a dick to Jim’s dad, he’s a drunk, etc. But we never got his story. We never got any real insight into WHY Billy Bones is the way he is. Other than he’s hiding from “the pirate with the peg leg”.
All that aside, I wasn’t actually into Black Sails when it started. It wasn’t until episode 2 when I finally heard someone say Billy Bones, between the music playing in my headphones, that I did a double take. Then all the sudden some of my favorite pirates showed up on the screen. There was a lot of flails alot of omg’s and I ran to starz play to catch up.
Billy is a character that I really get. I get why he is the way he is,(in Black Sails). Its not hard to see he’s got a conscience. Its not hard to see he’s constantly conflicted and he genuinely fucking cares about people. But he’s also introverted too. He doesn’t say anywhere NEAR the amount of information that goes through his mind. He’s selective (save when he gets pissed off but who is when they’re mad?).
He’s flawed as a pirate. SERIOUSLY flawed, but the men of the Walrus respect him anyway. He might not be the biggest badass in Nassau but he knows what the fuck he’s doing and he does it. Quietly and with a purpose of his own that doesn’t really rely on anyone else. He’s got a love for that ocean, and he’s in it for that. For the freedom. For being king of himself.
But he’s also got courage issues when it comes to Flint and I love that. Because it’s believable. He’s big and bulky and knows how to handle himself but he’s also fucking smart. He recognizes when someone else is capable of out THINKING him. And people smarter than him scare him.
So wow ok…um i rambled i’m sorry….Billy became a muse because well I understand him in a way I haven’t understood any character (not brought to life by myself) since Little John. (the original Little John from the lore). I can relate to how Billy feels and sees the world.
