Even at the other female's reassuring words, Zerena still can't help but feel the crushing pang of guilt in her chest. She quickly pushes herself away from the other, turning so that Raven can't see her face. The one secret she had tried to keep buried for so long is finally digging its way out into the light. The half-elf takes even more steps away from the blonde, her gloved hands curling into fists.
"But it's not okay." Her voice is quiet, barely even above a whisper as she speaks. "Because you're never going to want to see me again after I tell you the truth of how most of your sisters died." With a deep sigh, the woman forces herself to turn back around, the light in her navy hues no longer shining as bright. After this, there would be no going back.
Maybe this is what Zerena deserves. To be hated.
"Mithos Yggdrasill was the one who ordered the extinction of your kind." Zerena had been so young back then . . . just a simple lap dog carrying out her master's dirty work, uncaring of the people who she might hurt along the way. She had been a fresh agent of Cruxis . . . and a fool. "I was among those who purged most of the witches. In fact . . . I was the one who was tasked with killing them after they were rounded up."
The stench of burning flesh and blood still stings her nostrils to this day. The looks of their suffering though . . . that will haunt her forever.
