Antenna Low Noise Amplifier/s (LNA) is/are used to enhance the sensitivity of radio receivers, modems or TV sets. They do so by lowering the overall Noise Figure of the receiving system. LNAs are also used to overcome the loss of a long cable. To accomplish this, the Low Noise Amplifier is connected directly to the antenna, before the long cable. When used for this purpose, the LNA is often called an Antenna Preamplifier, as its primary objective is to overcome downstream transmission line losses.
