Gods. I love anthropology. But also I cannot help that thing in my head where every so often when I read a paper my brain goes: "It's ancient history! Anthropology!"
I was not even that deep in the MLP fandom. But the fansongs ruined me.

Age Bands and Social Sorting in Urban Nightlife
By Cliff Potts, CSO, and Editor-in-Chief of WPS News Baybay City, Leyte, Philippines — August 15, 2026 Spend enough time observing modern nightlife and another pattern becomes clear. People cluster by age. The early twenties gather with the early twenties. The thirties gather with the thirties. The forties and beyond often choose different venues altogether. This is not accidental. It is…
Hey so something just clicked with me today. I have a theory that the super wealthy don't care if mass extinction events happen. And not just because evil but, because they've seen that things like c0vid didn't stop population numbers going up; That their wealth doesn't NEED to be based on goods and services because money is made up and they can just buy each other's stuff in the stock market.
They can buy back, crush their IP value, stay in air conditioning it doesn't matter. And the population could hypothetically shrink from 8 billion to 2 billion again and they can still have valuables and even be considered heroes for sharing internet and selling you teddy bears for sadness and food at low prices. Hypothetically, allegedly. And they wash their hands of it because people WANT stuff.
It takes so much energy to make the stuff people want and that causes pollution. Billions of people polluting makes them feel not bad if kock brothers pollute allegedly. If there are less people buying stuff and polluting they can wash their hands of the guilt in their minds.
Keep yourselves comfy people, the wealthy don't feel any obligation to engage in weather altering to make you more comfortable after you filled their pockets.

For the purposes of this poll, if you are a system, feel free to just answer for yourself, rather than for any other headmates or for the whole system. If you're not comfortable with answering for only yourself, OR if you want to answer for the whole system but it's too diverse or complicated and you plan to talk about it in tags, then feel free to also select the, "I/We are a system &/or can't differentiate talking to self vs to alters," option instead. Up to you! I just couldn't cram more nuance or better wording into that option than I already did. My (attempted) priority was to avoid making it look like that is the only answer available to systems. :)
Everyone else: Don't worry about it. :) Go on and —
Clickety-click-click the one that best applies to you.
How do you typically talk to yourself?
ONLY first person singular — I, me
ONLY first person plural — we, us (❕incl. saying "Let's" or imperatives)
ONLY second person singular — you, [name]
BOTH 1st person options (singular "me" or plural "we")
BOTH singular options (1st person "me" or 2nd person "you")
BOTH... uh, the other two (1st person plural "we", 2nd person singular "you")
ALL THREE, — I, me, we, us, you, [name]. depends on context/situation
ONLY 3rd prsn— she, they, xe, it, [name], etc. (❕talking to YOURSELF not others)
BOTH 3rd person AND some combination of I, me, we, us, you, [name]. depends...
I/We are a system &/or can't differentiate talking to self vs to alters.
Some other way, not accounted for in this poll.
I legit do not talk to myself, not even "self-talk" in my own head.
Okay, goodbye; I throw this into the wild and run back to a safe distance with the hope of a bountiful sample size ✨ Have a great day!
