What bugs you about them

well it starts with the fact that n.athan was kind of the “bad guy” in the first few episodes. he cheated on peyton, didn’t give a fuck about her interests or her person in general called her a bitch when she wanted to break up w him lol and idk i guess i don’t like the fact that n.athan saw being with haley as his “redemption” like he changed because he wanted to be "good enough to be seen with her" like ?? i just hate this trope a lot?? and it didn’t help that i hated him with a passion right in the beginning. i mean even in s2 or s1 idk when he had this date with peyton, peyton had to convince him not to cheat on haley with her, like yikes TM. also imo they got married waaaaaay to young. i mean they proved to be the mature couple that works through their issues and stays together no matter what, but it’s still not really realistic in my eyes. that you get married at such a young age and that everything turns out perfect. i mean yes they had their struggles but i guess not everyone has rich parents who help out lol

Some people don't like Naley because they don't like early Nathan, and that's fair. I'm here riding the 'I don't like Haley either' train.

Hi! I saw on a poll that you didn't care much about naley and wanted to let you know that I was always indifferent to them too! I'd love to hear why they're just not interesting to you because I think we're the only fans who feel that way!

Naley are fine.. I have a lot of reasons why I didn't really ship them.

I never saw the chemistry with James and Joy. I always kinda noticed the age difference between them, but James just felt very immature too as an actor compared to her. Chemistry is very subjective and I get people loved them but I just didn't see it.

The passion was not there... I can remember like 1 scene from season 6 at LP's wedding that they had a "hot" moment together and it was the first time I felt any sort of passion. The rest of the time they were written almost too platonically imo. Even in season 1 in the "honeymoon" phase of their relationship they never acted super passionate or anxious to be together etc. I don't think the writing depicted them as a young couple falling love well at all.

I found their storyline boring. I liked them in season 1 but they got together too fast imo I would have preferred if they went slower. And the marriage totally ruined it for me, as well as the teen pregnancy. Those are just storylines that don't interest me whatsoever... Season 2 I actually was enjoying the angst. I felt they should have broken up then. The fact they were together the entire series was just boring to watch imo. Even in season 5 when they were having issues it would have been nice to see them separated for a while.

Ultimately, they just aren't my kind of ship. I prefer super angsty, sexy, passion filled couples that you can really feel the longing with, that have lots of build up and tenison. Naley were not that imo. Which is fine! Again, lots of people prefer the "sweeter" happier couples. Just not me lol.

Hmm, not the most common opinion, but I've heard it before. I'm not on in the same boat though. I honestly really love Naley in seasons 1-3, it's probably when I liked them the most, but the whole show goes downhill for me season 4 and beyond, so that's not Naley's fault. I think there's definite chemistry in the early seasons, and Naley have some of the most sweet but also some of the most angsty moments on the show. I honestly just am really loving Haley this time round on my rewatch - she was always a favourite but Joy has me really appreciating her this time around and some of her greatest acting is with James/Nathan. That being said, they aren't my fav ship on the show and sometimes I just didn't super connect with their storylines. I think everyone can guess my One Tree Hill OTP lol

honestly no anon. they’re not like a notp or anything, they just didn’t hit any of my ship buttons and i remember being super bored by them 95% of the time lmao i think a big part of it is that they got married in high school (during season 1 no less! like give it a few seasons of buildup first ya know??) and teen marriage stories tend to immediately turn me off, along with general pregnancy/baby stuff (even if the characters are adults - see: caroline’s creepy magic pregnancy in tvd 🤮)... although i do acknowledge i’m a huge hypocrite bc the jenny stuff didn’t turn me off of jake/peyton, i just wish it had been different lol
