how to leave spotify for good
it takes a bit of time and is less convenient than using spotify. this guide is for people with some computer knowledge and strong anti spotify ideology.
step 1: go to chosic.com and select tools > spotify playlist explorer
step 2: link your playlist or log in to get all of your liked songs. export as CSV
step 3: open the file in a program like excel or libreoffice calc. now you can sort by each column to easily see your frequent artists, albums, etc. not required but its fun
step 4: if you have a low number of songs or want to curate them more, you can manually find the ones you want to download. OR
search "csv to youtube"; for fewer songs you can use a site that comes up, for more songs use a github script (i'll update this when i try some, maybe make a guide if a lot of people want it)
step 5: remember to use ublock origin on firefox browser or newpipe app on android - newpipe allows downloads also. i don;t know any ways for iphone sorry
step 6: prepare yourself for minor inconveniences and missing out on the spotify wrapped craze at the end of the year... use last.fm if you want to track your listening stats
step 7: support artists you like by buying their stuff on bandcamp, buying merch, going to concerts (if affordable for you and not run by Big Concert). even just giving them $5 is more than they would see if you listened to their song over 1600 times on spotify
notes: - you can substitute "youtube" for other music providers like deezer. or other things. wink - you may have to do some editing in excel depending on the script you use if there are too many fields - if chosic stops being free let me know and i'll look for another site or search "spotify playlist/likes to csv" (there might be better tools for public playlists but if you want to export all your likes you'll need a tool like this that you login to)
I'm still flabbergasted by the Spotify thing. why are y'all still using the nazi music app!!! i feel like I'm going crazy. like y'all sending a company that's openly not paying its talent and using that money to develop weapons a monthly check and if I go IT'S FUCKED UP YOU GUYS ARE STILL USING THE NAZI MUSIC APP I'm the weird one!!! make it make sense!
Normalizemos NO tener Spotify 🙏
With Shit-ify now asking for its users to submit their IDs to confirm their identities and its CEO becoming a chairman for an AI Military Drone company, it's high time that we return to our early 2000's roots.
Boot up that dusty ol' MP3/Media Player. Go and search for whatever Youtube converter that catches your eye. Learn how to burn CDs. Discover the world of torrenting.
These companies may have the majority of us believing that we're bound to them by a leash; that we are willing to throw away our freedom of expression for the sake of convenience. Now it is time for us to fight back; cut off the flow of cash they relied on US to maintain, and live life - both on and offline - to the fullest as our most sincere selves.
I get it- losing all these services have to suck, and figuring out the ins and out of the above tactics can be a pain. Learning new things, especially during these times in history, is no walk in the park, BUT THAT IS WHAT MAKES US HUMAN; our capacity to learn, our capacity to care, and our capacity to look at life itsslf through an analytical lens are all that separates us from the rest of the animal kingdom!
Do not rely on megacorporations to cater for your every want.
Do not rely on stuff like AI to make the final decision.
Now, we have the means to make them fall unto their knees. Now, we have to raise our voices up so that they could reach the skies and make their marks in history.
instead of paying for spotify u could buy a new cd every 1-2 months. u could have a new cd every 1-2 months!!!
& yh thts a lower Quantity of music but u could Have the Albums and carry them and listen to them and eat them up
currently i buy maybe 1 cd per year because i have no moneys... but if u buy spotify... u could instead have music more intentionally and for free on like., youtube, & also have a whole new cd every month or so and not even lose a dime.
you could have a day every month where you go to the music shop and pick a new cd!!! a beautiful routine! for real life enrichment! and youd get to have a collection of albums you love! for the same cost as spotify!
My Innoasis Y1 managed to unclip itself from my laptop bag without me noticing, which is very annoying - especially since I went through the trouble of opening the thing to replace the dodgy microSD card.
As much as I enjoyed the click wheel on it, I found it too quiet and a little buggy.
I originally considered the Snowsky Echo Mini and went with the more premium version of that, the Echo. It arrived today, together with the matching leatherette case.
Look at this thing!
"omg why isn't this on spotify" shut upp shut uppp use an illegal downloader website and put it on ur phone. burn it onto a cd with the media player on your shitty laptop. get a refurbished mp3 player and put thousands of songs on there. im kissing u on the forehead and leaving behind a lipstick mark shaped like a usb drive. stop letting spotify define your music listening habits.
