You clearly had no ill intentions when you first made your post, and apologized when people explained a problem with it. You even deleted it as to not add to the problem. Idk why people are still up your ass about it?? I also feel like there’s bigger racial issues in the world than some random people online shipping Walker and Sam. Like if they actually give a shit about racism, they should go do something productive about it rather than bullying people on the internet over a post that came across poorly
This is just for @inthemourninglight, from the "John riding Sam" post. Bullying is repeated, intentional behavior by and an aggressor of group of aggressors to cause harm, distress. Bullying does not include a group of users criticizing one post from someone and expressing their frustrations on having this type of post alway pop up
Racial injustice doesn’t exist in a vacuum. The point of the show, significantly with the relationship between Sam and John, is about white privilege. How the very qualified black man gave up what he earned because people, even in real life, wanted someone like John Walker to be the person to represent CA. The scene is right after the government’s choice commits a war crime, and Sam is attempting to stop John, as he runs after murdering a man. The pic is right before John tried to kill Sam the same way he did the flagsmasher.
The writer of the show stated numerous times that many of the inciting dialogues came from his own experiences in real life. Anthony Mackie said the same and used his experiences for this show. If you have never heard how real people talk about these two characters and this show overall, you would know it’s not just a show.
I have watched many black men put in that position in real life or on their stomachs for the simple “fault” of being in the area. The negative responses to this post were about using the scene where John is the attacker to frame it as lust instead. Not only that, but use language like “John needs a cock to destroy him” to dehumanize Sam to an object, devalue Sam’s victimhood, seeing this is a moment Sam almost dies, and paint Sam as the aggressor. John just screamed in Sam’s face, “he is Captain America”. There was no need to do that except to reinforce his superiority over Sam, even though he was not thinking of his role when he went after the flag smasher.
This type of language is frequently studied in academia to correlate media with societal issues. The people who consume media also vote or express themselves politically as well. How many times have you seen black/brown people call out a very problematic post, and you think “it’s not that serious”? Intentions don’t matter if the impact hurts many people.
