I am number one believer that Zanka is super sweet and mushy with his partner but he still is ultimately a whiny little bitch.
Which means just because he will snuggle up with you like a rescued cat at the end of the night it does not mean that you don’t bring an unnecessary amount of anger into his life.
I can so vividly see Zanka ask where his sweater is and then see you wear it just to ask for it back and for you to argue with him.
“Babe I need that shirt right now, can you take another?”
“What do you mean?”
“.. the sweater you have on? Can I have it back?”
“This ain’t your sweater bud”
“Yes it is.”
“Nah you gotta be like hella buff to fit this— yknow like me”
“The fuck is that supposed to mean?!”
“You know body builders clothes are a lot to fill in.”
“I AM STRONGER THAN YOU!?”
“Sure buddy.. maybe one day”
“WTF JUST GIVE IT- I’m freezing I don’t care actually”
Or like he has a mission to go on alone and you bother the shit out of him before he leaves. Like he is packing up his stuff and is grabbing his jinki to go and fight but you start doing this song and dance that he is leaving you specifically.
“You know life would be so great if my BOYFRIEND loved me..” you complained from the couch while leaning on Enjin. That was btw completely on board to fuck with Zanka.
“Sounds rough, girl. I would leave his ass, just saying”
“I can hear you both!”
“No but like I love it when he is here AND ACTS LIKE HE LOVES ME! But busy man yknow”
Enjin straightened his posture and coughed into his hand to put on his best girl voice. “Girlfriend! I don’t go with men like that no more doll just cuz of that”
“You are so much stronger than me..”
“OH MY GOD Can you stop?!”
Zanka legit stomps over to you and looks over the back of the couch. He leans down looking angry as hell. “What do you want from me?!”
You then lean up and grab his face to smash his lips against yours in a quick kiss just to watch his face start to turn red from the embarrassment and rage building up in him before he stands up and leaves.
“OH ENJIN I MISS MY DARLING HUSBAND!!”
“HAHA OH REALLY TELL ME MORE, GIRL”
“FUCK YOU BOTH”
Later at night when he gets home and steps into your room, ready to go to sleep- all snuggled up with you.
“You piss me off so much”
So obviously you start kissing him all over, his cheek, forehead, nose, eyelids, mouth, neck, ANYTHING at your disposal until he starts giggling and smiling again.
Because as much as you love seeing him boil with unreasonable anger, his happy smiling face will always be a hundred times better.
Zanka dating headcanons, prob ooc cause I havent seen the show for a bit. (No Smut/Nsfw, cause he's underage) planned post
-He's not the most affectionate person, but firm hand holding is grounding.
-Feels the need to show off for you. During training, sparring ect.
-Constantly needs approval and reassurance.
-Can't admit he's overworking himself, you practically have to force him to take a break.
-Absolute neat freak, his living space is impressively clean. If you leave something like a coat on his chair, he'll most likely fold it.
-It takes a while for him to accept you love him for him, instead of focusing on his flaws.
-His shoulders get sore from using Lovely Assistaff so much, so he'll sometimes ask for massages.
-Accidentally said his first "I love you" while you was injured.
-Doesn't give light compliments, they always have meaning far beyond what you understand.
-Acts annoyed when you steal his clothes, just to inhale your scent later.
-Spending time with him doesn't have to be talkative, it can simply be sitting beside him while he polishes Lovely.
-Nose and forehead kisses when y'all get a short moment to yourself.
-When you're sleeping together, after he thinks you're already asleep he'll whisper sweet things usually revolving around how he can't believe someone like you can love him so dearly.
So i had a hilarious though and I just had to request it what if after rudo and the plunger incident zanka has to get shots to prevent dysentery disease ( a disease caused by coming in contact with fecal matter) so he flips out because he absolutely hates and I mean hates needles so reader has to calm him down and help him through it
w. needle/syringe, mentions of blood. 548 words.
“stop squirming,” you said in an authoritative tone. “it'd hurt more if i inject in the wrong place.”
somehow, that made zanka even more restless in your hold.
under other circumstances, zanka might be fighting out the urge to scream because of the physical contact—how you were holding the top of his arm so tenderly, medical purposes, of course—and how physically, suffocatingly close you are to him. but right now, he wanted to scream so bad because of the fucking needle he's worried it might turn you off.
you sighed and placed the syringe back on the metal plate. “look, if you'd rather die because of some shit, then suit yourself.”
fuck. why does he feel like he'd die under your stares and not because of the injection or the disease? he feels like he'll shit himself too.
but no, he gotta man up and show you he can survive something as mundane as this.
“j-just get it over with,” he stuttered.
“it'll just feel like an ant bite. i'll be over with it very quickly,” you reassured. “don't look at it. close your eyes.”
but zanka, really, could not stop shaking even though his eyes were closed. because under his eyelids, he imagined the the syringe closing in—the thin, sharp metal piercing his skin, down to his muscles, as a trickle of blood leaks out slowly from his arm. he grimaced, a low growl escaping under his throat; his arm jerking a little as it felt the phantom graze of the metal.
“zanka,” you sighed out the syllables of his name. “i'd really rather not have you get sick. so please?”
are you worried about him, or has the disease started to spread to his mind and has officially infected his brain that he's already assuming stuff? either way, he's fucked.
“i know you can handle this. you're strong.”
oh. oh. that did something.
zanka took a deep breath. “‘kay. okay.”
“by the way,” you started. “how was the new recruit? i mean, aside from the fact he threw shit on you. a sphereite, that boy, rare thing we got him back on his feet.”
zanka raised an eyebrow at the sudden topic. “enjin keeps sayin’ he's a genius. hm, i don't know if i can see that. he didn't even know his gloves did shit until now, y'know. enjin assigned me to be his instructor. but it's not like i— ah.”
zanka swallowed down his scream. it wouldn't be good to burst his crush's—you—eardrums because of some small metal, which he can easily destroy, by the way.
vaccination tactics used on infants and small children do and still apparently work on young adults, after all. distract them a little, then strike when they're finally comfortable and vulnerable.
you grinned at him successfully. “good job.”
ah, another compliment.
you plastered a bandaid with a cute design on the spot where you had injected him, though zanka can't really see it clearly. his arm felt heavy. you brought down his sleeve and gave his shoulder a gentle light pat.
“i'll see you again next week for your next dosage.”
zanka restrained a smile. he'll be seeing you again! “okay, see you ne— WHAT?”
WHAT DO YOU MEAN BY NEXT DOSAGE?
at least he'd see you again, he guesses.
🚯 he js like me fr... i hate getting vaccines too ... and i can feel it even just with a mention of it or seeing a photo ... even the strongest soldiers out there have problems like this (me and zanka)
If there was anything worse than a good-looking guy, it was a good-looking guy who knew he was good-looking and used it to his advantage.
Zanka, for instance. It wasn't enough for him to be perhaps the best on the team; he had to make sure everyone else knew it too, and always with that damn smile of his. Not only were his eyes beautiful, but that red hair he styled so attractively and the aura he emanated, ugh, it was as if he wanted you to look at nobody else but him. And that, exactly, was his goal.
If you walked into a room, he would automatically straighten up in his seat and maybe even join the ongoing conversation, just to drop clever comments and sound smarter than everyone else. If the place was crowded, he would make space for you, perhaps by kicking Rudo out of his seat or glaring at the others until they cleared a spot. In the van, his leg would brush against yours at every moment. Even if you shrank back into your seat out of nervousness, he would use every bump in the road as an excuse to move closer to you.
He used every single moment by your side to his advantage, and you knew it perfectly well. In any other situation, you might have found his attitude arrogant, but there was something inside him that drew your attention so intensely and kept you close. You even found yourself expecting him to do certain things for you, like opening the van door or even giving you the last piece of cake. But the situation that finally made you fall at his feet was the very first mission you had together.
Zanka was in charge, which came as no surprise. But unlike other missions, the two of you were completely alone, just both of you, with no one else around. He strutted ahead of you, wielding Assistaff with impeccable grace, doing every single damn thing perfectly.
"You're falling behind," he tossed over his shoulder, flashing a sarcastic smirk. "I'm going to leave you behind if you keep walking so slowly."
You quickened your pace until you were right by his side, grumbling in your thoughts.
"Stop being so annoying," you said. "Your legs are longer than mine, of course I'm going to fall behind."
He let out a mocking laugh and walked even faster, making you curse under your breath. After what felt like hours in hell, the infamous beast you were supposed to exterminate finally made its expected appearance. At first glance, its appearance made you nauseous, but you practically had to swallow your vomit just to avoid giving Zanka another reason to make fun of you.
He was fast...too fast, really. He left you behind again for a few seconds, so you had to rush to avoid looking like the foolish one on the mission. With a couple of thrusts, he brought the beast down, but a heap of debris went flying right above you. He was still distracted by his great feat when you lunged at him and tackled him to the ground, pulling him out of the danger zone. The rubble crashed down right where he had been standing and would have crushed him if it weren't for your quick reaction.
"Well, that was fun," he said, sitting up and forcing you to get up and off him. "I owe you one, I suppose."
His smile vanished the moment you winced in pain.
"Are you okay? Did you get hurt?" He grabbed your shoulder and quickly dropped into a crouch.
"I'm fine." You tried to stand up, but a sharp stab of pain in your ankle made you collapse right back down. "Ouch."
"You don't look fine. What's wrong?"
"It's my ankle." You touched the spot where it hurt and winced in pain again.
"It looks serious. We'd better leave soon."
He lifted you as if you weighed nothing at all. Placing one hand on your waist, he hoisted your shoulder over his neck. Immediately, you felt a wave of heat rush up your chest, neck, and face, but it vanished the moment you tried to put weight on your foot again. The pain was unbearable, and Zanka could tell. He didn't hesitate for a second; within moments, he scooped you into his arms and carried you. You breathed in deeply to keep from thinking about anything foolish, but the scent of incense and citrus emanating from him was starting to make you dizzy.
When you reached the van, he lowered you carefully and helped you sit down. He knelt in front of you and helped unfasten your boot.
"What are you doing?" you asked, as if it weren't obvious.
"I want to check your injury. There are some bandages in the back."
After gathering the necessary supplies, he took off your sock and inspected the injury gently. His hands were soft, and he held you with utmost care; you were surprised by how tenderly he treated you. You didn't know he could be so meticulous, and above all, protective. He shushed you a couple of times when you tried to protest his help, but in the end, you gave in.
"Thank you," you muttered when he finished.
"Don't mention it. You need to be more careful." His eyes met yours.
"I was just trying to help."
"And you did." His hand moved delicately up your cheek, tucking a strand of hair behind your ear, but his hand lingered there for a few seconds. "Thank you for that."
The pain vanished for a moment, replaced by a mix of nerves and embarrassment. Nerves from being in this situation with a guy who was so attractive, and whom you thought you couldn't stand, and embarrassment over how messy you must look in front of him: hair disheveled, covered in dirt and stains from the debris, and missing a sock. How pathetic.
He smiled after a few seconds and helped you climb all the way into the van. On the drive back, neither of you said a word. Your heart was pounding like crazy, and you spent the entire ride thinking about how handsome he looked right then, how handsome he looked yesterday, and how handsome he would look tomorrow.
The first time Zanka saw you, he had made a mistake, because he completely underestimated you.
The first thing he noticed about you was that your eyes seemed completely lost, gray and not looking at anything in particular, and that was enough to infer that you couldn't see anything at all. But even so, you walked with impressive calmness, with a violin case over your shoulder, and you seemed far too relaxed for someone who had just joined a faction that guaranteed you a daily death.
You oriented yourself by following small sounds such as footsteps, breathing, the rustling of one piece of fabric against another.
And, of course, that was enough for some people to underestimate you, him included.
"Is she going to fight?" one of the Cleaners muttered.
"She's blind."
"Then she shouldn't be very difficult."
"Is that a violin? How is she going to play it if she's blind?" It drew a lot of laughter from some of those nearby.
Zanka heard the comment and frowned because he didn't like it, although he had also thought the same thing when he first saw you. The simple fact that he could read each of your body expressions, filled with confidence, was enough to make him think that going against you wouldn't be easy at all, despite how "weak" you looked.
The first mission the two of you had together as a team was a little after your arrival, and honestly, despite his previous impression of you being undoubtedly strong, he now thought the complete opposite.
Half of the team was fighting in no man's land against the trash beasts below, and you were standing at the top of the hill, violin in hand. He couldn't determine your expression because the Full Face covered your face, but according to Zanka, there could be no other reason for you not to be helping your team other than fear.
Although he couldn't blame you either. He didn't know how you had ended up in this situation either. You were a blind person working in the Cleaners faction, where you had to see and anticipate the movements of each and every one of your enemies; trash beasts.
Enjin hadn't gone down yet either, but, I mean, it's Enjin. Who could reproach him for anything?
Zanka watched as Enjin approached you and said something to you. Naturally, he couldn't hear anything, nor could he infer what the man had told you, since that man was difficult to anticipate.
But the next thing he managed to witness was magnificent. Your posture changed, your back now straight, and the violin in your hands transformed into a Jinki, opening in half to transform into a beautiful Bow with magnificent details, and the arrow wasn't far behind. The very bow that was used to play a violin was now your arrow.
Naturally, the boy was left stunned, even more so when he saw you aiming the bow directly at him. What?
An explosion sounded directly behind him and he quickly turned around into a defensive position, but the only thing he saw was a Trash Beast halfway through killing him, frozen in midair with an arrow piercing its left eye.
The entire team was impressed by the sight, and Enjin's thunderous laughter rang out through the area as he walked down the hill with his umbrella open and you tucked under his arm. The only thing Zanka heard you say was something like, "Please let me touch the ground."
"And this, friends, is the power of our beloved new teammate, Y/n." He placed you on the ground while you stumbled and your attitude returned to that of a shy and weak person, hunched over and trying to hide beneath your own shell.
"What is it supposed to do? Your Jinki" Zanka was the first to speak, and everyone turned to look at him, except you, obviously. You kept looking at the ground, but your head was slightly tilted in his direction. "I mean, it's obvious that she freezes....something, but how does she do it?" he continued.
"Well, uhm, I have no idea. I didn't know they froze until now. I always touched them after shooting them and thought they had turned to stone because of how stiff they are," you replied, pointing your finger at the frozen beast behind everyone.
Your opponent was considerably larger than you, but it wasn't something that concerned you, and apparently, it wasn't going to be the first time.
The second time Zanka saw your strength and your fighting style was during a training session in which you had to fight someone larger than you, again.
You took off
"Ready?" Enjin asked, acting as the referee with his carefree smile, as if he knew exactly what was coming.
You tilted your head slightly. "Yeah."
"Don't worry, girl, I'll be careful."
A crooked smile appeared on your face. "Good, big guy. Nobody cares anyway."
The fight began, and the man advanced directly toward you.
You didn't move, you just waited. You were patient enough to do so.
You waited until you heard the change in his breathing.
The crunch of his boot against the ground.
The movement of his shoulder.
And...
The blow passed mere centimeters from the man's face.
"What...?!"
You spun on his heel and struck the man's knee.
He fell.
Before he could get back up, you were already behind him, and the opponent's arm was trapped against his back.
Everything had happened within a matter of seconds. You released him and calmly stepped away.
"Was that all?"
Zanka was left open-mouthed. "What?!" he exclaimed, approaching you. "How did you do that?!"
You turned your head toward him, somewhat shy this time.
"I just listened..." you murmured.
"Listened to what?"
"You know, everything."
Zanka stared at you. Even though you couldn't see him, you could feel his gaze traveling over you, and you knew that his body was facing yours.
"Everything?" he asked.
"I can hear your breathing too."
He blinked. "Mine?"
You smiled. "Yeah..."
Zanka lowered his voice. "And what do you hear now?"
She tilted her head. "Your voice, your breathing. Are you okay? Actually, you sound a little shocked."
Zanka stood completely still, and you walked past him.
"See you at the next training session, Zanka."
He followed you with his eyes and then murmured, "She's just as cool as Enjin. I love it."
"What did you say?" you asked from several meters away, turning your head toward him.
Zanka turned red and could only hear your laughter. It didn't take him long to discover something he would never have admitted out loud, and he wished it were the same for him.
There was nothing he found more fascinating than someone everyone considered weak... proving that they could be terrifyingly strong.
Especially when that person could hear him even when he tried to hide what he was feeling.
on the Ground, most people starved the majority of their life. food was sparse and a valuable resource most couldn't get around to afford or even find.
on the Ground, you were one of those people. you were also one of those people who fought of trashbeasts, happily a part of the Cleaners even though they might not have the best or most nutritious food there is.
however, you knew someone who wanted to make sure you were well fed and fueled . . . your beautiful boyfriend Zanka! you had no idea how he got his hands on all this food, but you figured he probably remembered some people and places that fed him back when he was in the Hell Guards, and bought the supplies from them.
it was expensive and lots of work to cook said food (and also, to hide it from a certain Rudo) but Zanka insisted that he'd get to cook you food without any help at least once a month. once a month he disappears during the day and returns with the finest ingredients he had saved up money for, and he sat you down in his room for you to wait.
everytime he appears with your bowl of food you have to hold back not to jump on him in a tight hug. your boyfriend really loves you more than anything!
can you tell i've been chronically hungry these past few days . . . all i write about is food (。ᵕ ◞ _◟)
