Problems with PC Tools ThreatFire on Vista

I have had problems with PC Tools ThreatFire running on 32-bit Windows Vista. One of the problems I had using ThreatFire on Vista was that it would make the system unworkable. i.e.  I would not be able to open any additional programs and the mouse pointer would show the hour glass symbol (the system's way of telling, "I am busy doing your useless tasks please give me sometime to complete the current task"). Not even the Vista's Task Manager would open. After some looking around I found the culprit was the Windows Interactive services detection service. ThreatFire was showing some kind of dialog box which could only be viewed through the interactive services logon. I would have to switch user to see that message which was pretty much useless message having Ok button with no information. So I thought the solution would be to disable the Interactive services detection service. Voila!, it worked, well at least temporarily. Well that fix worked for not showing up the interactive services dialog box. But now got a new problem. I cannot even say when the system is in a semi-freeze condition. You can move the mouse (with that hour glass symbol accompanying the pointer) all you want, but you cannot open any application. So back to square one. So much for disabling the interactive service. So then had one last option to fix this problem once and for all. UNINSTALL THREATFIRE. Well that worked like a charm. So what do you do when the system semi-freezes, like what happened in my case above and shutdown the system delicately. I used to do a system lock with the [Windows] + L shortcut. Then I would just switch user and then select the restart option. Sometimes even if I try to lock the system, the screen just blanks out. One observation which might be a contributing factor for my problems is that I keep the system running without turning it off for weeks (actually I never turn it off unless I am on a vacation) and restart once in two or three weeks which is proximately when the system becomes too sluggish to work on. So that might be a contributing factor for my problems. I have 2GB RAM and a Intel dual core processor with 147 GB Hard rive capacity which is 80% full. I just blame my problems on ThreatFire, but it could just be me and my handling. ThreatFire on the surface seems to be a good innovation against Zero-Day attacks. I have used the program for over 6 months and I really, being a home user, haven't found much use for it other than drain the system resources.
