Antique 1920s large serving platter. Perfect rustic farmhouse decor. Measures 17.75 long x 12 at widest. Off white china has a blue line border along with gold leaves design (close ups in pics #3&4). Antique condition is good with surface crazing and lovely spotty coloring.

Antique EAPG Crying Baby Bread Plate 13.25" Royal Lady Belmont Glass 1880s era

Of Platters Large and Small

When I see a platter I start to think about the scrumptious food that it can serve. “Would I serve a pork tenderloin or roast beef?” “Who do I know that would enjoy that at dinner? And then I start to compose a guest list in my mind. And one thing leads to another. Before you know it, an empty platter has prompted a dinner party.

The platters pictured above are my largest and smallest platter. The small Blue Willow platter by Semi China, England fits in the palm of my hand. It was made as a lucky Victorian era child’s toy. Today I use it as a butter dish. 

The large  Ashworth ironstone platter features an imaginative Imari style border. The pattern reflects the late 19th century fascination with Japanese and Chinese design. It has a well and tree and measures a substantial twenty one by seventeen inches. Due to its size and weight it only has to work on Thanksgiving Day!
