We have a stunning collection of antique Mexican retablos, and I wanted to share these two I just rephotographed and added to their listing, with even more close up details apparent. These two 19th century retablos feature Santa Rita de Cascia; when she was canonized in the year 1900, she was bestowed the title of Patroness of Impossible Causes. In Mexico, Santa Rita is widely venerated as the Patroness Saint of mothers, abused wives and heartbroken women.
