Annie & Nick | A rebirth in the stars
Kaden had told him that if he would wait long enough outside the clock tower he would meet Antonia. He didn’t want to go look for the dog and find her there. That would only put everyone on edge. He was pacing outside. Rehearsing what he was going to say over and over again in his head. This moment was so important. How did you tell someone their loved one had returned from the dead? Would she even believe him? In fact, those were the easy questions. There were more difficult ones like, how would he feel when he would see the love of his eternal life? How would he feel once he saw a ring on the finger where he had put one before? Twice. He had to admit he had been angry with her. So angry. For 200 years he had fought for her. For 200 years he had tried. And yes, he had made his mistakes. He had done his fair share of horrors. But so did she, this last year. And no one held her accountable. But above all, she hadn’t fought for him. For them. For everything they had built. She simply...let him go. For something that was simply easier. He knew he could hold on to these grudges. For the sake of Victoria. All he wanted was for them to be a family again. The only thing that complicated that was his current relationship to Annie. Normally he would have simply kissed her. Make her love him again, with a boyish charm and a careless attitude. Making the dog look like a fool. But he didn’t have it in him anymore. Maybe he finally grew up or maybe his heart was somewhere else too.
When he finally saw her, he could right away see it was her. The real her. And it knocked the breath out of his lungs. It always did. This was his mate. That would never change. No matter how many lovers or centuries would go by.
