No. No, I will not in a billion years include Estelle Blofis. But I’ll continue including Laura Blofis.
I’m not going to change what I write just because Riordan can’t keep his canon straight and now even forgets the names of his own damn characters.
Sally Jackson’s parents are named James and Laura. That has been the canon for the past eight years. I have been working with that canon for the past eight years.
I even included Sally’s mother Laura in a fic before; Lucky, Fortunate Soul.
And I have been including Laura Blofis, daughter of Paul and Sally named after Sally’s dead mother, on multiple occasions - most prominently because also featuring her with an actual speaking role; The Queen of Olympus.
I have a next gen OC who is named Laura after Percy’s dead grandmother.
Those are all things I have been working with for the past eight years and just because now, Riordan can’t even remember his own characters’ names anymore and fucks that up by giving Sally’s mother a different name, I am not changing my canons.
If this comes off passive-aggressive and salty, please know that is in no way or shape aimed at you for asking that question, that is one hundred percent aimed at an author who can’t even be bothered to keep his own fucking canon straight.
He repeatedly screws up canons - changing Nico’s age through the series, calling Octavian a legacy or a son depending on what part of the series you’re reading - but changing a character’s name is just a ridiculous slip.
This is one of the reasons I am 100% done with him and will never touch ToA or include any new canon from ToA, because the man can’t be bothered with his own canon, well then, neither can I.
But, generally, since I am not and never will be touching ToA, I’m also just… never… going to include any canons or characters from that series. I’ve just been, separate from Riordan, playing with the idea of Percy getting to be a big brother to a little sister essentially since Paul and Sally got married. It’s an amusing coincident that we both agreed on naming said sister after Sally’s mother and it is an infuriating fact that he decided to throw his own canon out of the window for that.
