more NTFTBL thoughts as they've come to me, cut for length and spoilers. mostly about anu:

I liked Anu the most out of anything in this entire game. Conceptually, I like the idea of exploring Anu's consciousness, guilt, etc. I love that shit, lmao, loved it in every Life is Strange, loved it in the Krieg DLC, etc. But so much of what happened in that sequence felt disconnected from anything that happened in the rest of the game... It felt as though the game was now chastising me/Anu for being too focused on her own ambition when that really like. never seemed to be the case at all? I LIKE that idea, but did we see it outside of the scenes we suddenly got in ep 5? Like ... she was rude and dismissive of Phuong, apparently, but *not when I was playing her*, so... what? It reminds me of when I used to write essays in university and I wouldn't decide what my conclusion or thesis was until I got there, lmfao. But then you go back and edit!

(Also, the fundamental rift between Anu and Octavio being that she doesn't respect him or his ideas etc is good, except all of Octavio's ideas for 99% of the game are absolutely garbage. He paid 10m for a frogurt shop they already owned and didn't realize what he'd done. He had no actual business venture ideas prior to the game. Hello?? "Anu doesn't take him seriously" works better if there's stuff she SHOULD have taken seriously... Lol)

I also like, conceptually, the idea of Fran, Anu and Octavio all being offered their dreams and then presumably/possibly having to choose between that and Friendship. Except that didn't really happen, because as the player I didn't get a choice, and also it was never framed that way for Anu or Octavio or Fran in the first place, so ... huh? (Also why would Susan do ANY of that lmao what does it get her?)

As I was playing I sort of like... forgot about it, but why was the "going on vacation" concept introduced if it ultimately went nowhere? Yes the gun design leads to the healing design and the death ray, but the initial idea? Sending Susan-monstrosity "on vacation" was a good way to bring that storyline around, I was even like "oh, clever" BUT THEN IT DIDN'T WORK... ? and we just had to punch her hard? ?!?!?! Which Fran was already doing lmfao?

I thought maybe Anu would have to grapple with the fact that her "nonviolent" weapon actually just sent people into the abyss and is arguably maybe worse than murder, which Rhys actually kind of points out, but then we just kind of.move on from that. Why wasn't THAT in her consciousness/guilt sequence, an actual flaw we saw her demonstrate through the game, instead of something with Phuong that was never suggested before?

Also I liked Phuong a lot I can't believe she NEVER SHOWED UP AGAIN and Anu never mentions her LMAO... I mean Stapleface comes back but not Phuong? What.

I feel like this game had some good concepts buried in it, I really do like the idea of Anu as someone stuck in an inherently violent universe trying to grapple with wanting to fix it and whether that's possible and whether she's a hypocrite when she succumbs to violence herself etc... but man is that lost under a mountain of unbearable humour/weird comedy sequences like suddenly playing DDR for no reason.
