916 Caryl thoughts ,conclusion
The finale caryl scenes answer one of the big question of Season 9 for me
Where would Daryl stay
And the answer is where ever Carol stays!!.
1.From 901 itself Daryl was struggling for the right place for him we see it in his convo with Rick and carol offered to help him out and let him go to hilltop yet even at that time he wanted/offered to stay with Carol.
2. This question again came when Carol visited Daryl in the camp and wanted him back which he was not willing but ultimately agreed because of their bond
3. Again 914 Michonne in the flash back asked Daryl that Judith would like to see him back and answered he will be back when he found something about Rick which he didn’t found ofcourse. Then again Judith asked Daryl would he stay in ASZ if Michonne agrees to keep Lydia he again said no he would rather keep going
4.915 Zeke asked Daryl to stay in Kingdom as his home and he agrees, he didn’t even sound any agitated or unsure
5.916 Zeke again asked Daryl about his future plan (I think it’s safe to say Daryl stayed in Kingdom as Zeke is asking about this that he want space) to which he answers “Is that what carol wants” he literally doesn’t give a shit what the false king wants and he is also not willing to leave Carol. In his Convo later with carol when she asked what happened between Zeke and Daryl he didn’t said anything but Carol knows and when she asked if he wants to go to which he clearly says he doesn’t. Also note how this convo is parallel to 901 convo,basically CZ happened because Carol thought Daryl is Ok with it and CZ broke because Carol thought Daryl is not anymore Ok with it or her bond with Daryl cannot sustain if she wants to keep her marriage and she can’t loose Daryl.And they kind of together took the decision to move to ASZ , it was implied like that.
Whether there is romance between them or not they made it clear there is no space for anyone else between them. They will always chose each other over anyone else and this is the reason I don’t see any romantic interest for either of them can happen successfully (making Daryl a major part of CZ break up gives that prospective from writers) if they don’t end up together as no one can get close enough to them, that place they have already given to each other.
