I see Anwar as someone who was willing to do anything to make the relationship work, willing to go to any place to not end it. Nicola, however, shows up as someone who almost already knew how the relationship would go or someone who was like "well, if this doesn't work, I won't make it work". And they argued A LOT, like every conversation was an argument.

Yeah...like even something good, an achievement, a celebration would be an opportunity for an argument to happen. And though it could be that they both wanted the relationship to end and they hated it, there's a pleasure they found in getting to extremes.
