“You deleted the message you sent to me again,” he sighed. “It can’t be helped – I realized that I didn’t want to bother you with my messages,” she said. She knew that she had always wanted to text her friends, hoping that they would reply, but sometimes she wonders if she is too much for that. She would then delete those messages, hoping that no one will read it and be bothered to reply to her text.
After all, it was the reason why she and her previous ex broke up. He couldn’t handle her neediness, so she taught herself that she would not text anyone when she wanted to. That was how she unsent every message that she sent to her friends, her bestfriends, and her current boyfriend.
“Why?” he asks her as his eyes look at hers, his hands holding hers. “Because,” she says as she tries to evade his gaze. “You would feel annoyed right if someone is needy?” she asks back. “You know I should be independent, and –” she says.
“And you are afraid that you are too much for me to handle?” he asks back. She nods. “I am sorry if the world has made you believe so,” he says and suddenly you find yourself in his embrace. “When I can’t respond to your text, I won’t. I know how to control my boundaries, I know very well when I can read and can’t read your text. But I want you to know that you are never too much for me,” he says, this time caressing her hair. “Continue telling me about every stupid thing that you can tell me. I want to listen. Even if those texts are meaningless to others, it’s meaningful to me,” he continues. Without realizing it she lets out tears.
