Acting Over Your Mind || Alexis and Anya
A brand new start, that’s what it was. Moving to California, the school, theater… everything was a new opportunity and Alexis wasn’t scared, she was happy because finally everything seemed to be getting finally better. She was saying thanks again to Penny for showing her around and now she was again facing the double doors into the auditorium finally going in to just free her. It was pretty early and she was the first. Alexis made her way down and jumped into the stage. It was huge, beautifully gigantic, a little bit terrifying but still it was the best place in the world for her. She placed herself in the middle of the half lighted scenario, closed her eyes and took a deep breath.
“Words drown, as they are been poured down from our mind into the life. They drown as they save. They share as they keep. They create just as much as they destroy.” Alexis had started to recite one of her favorite monologues. Her grandfather had told her once that with this monologue her mother got her first leading role in the play that changed her life, so she learned it and always auditioned with it; but most of all she did it to prove herself that she will never end up like her mom. “But whose fault is it? Even a better question is, is it a fault or just something that happen? Because everything happen, God that they happen! Life is a happening that make you and break you and suddenly decides to play up with you and fuck the hell out of you! Ha! But why? Why it happens this way and no other? Why we learn in this way? Why we ask all this questions? Why? Why it can’t be simple? Why there are no answers to this questions that sink my mind and my heart!? WHY GOD?! WHY!?”, within the last question she had collapsed into the floor and started crying. Anyone could have thought that she was completely insane but it took a lot of talent to be able to perform that monologue and make someone believe it and she always did, since the first time. The emotions had rose up to Alexis more than ever that it felt burning inside. She started laughing, and slowly standing up with a smile on her face she continued as she paced around the whole stage “And what if every word that must have been said, is being said? And what if every song that must have been sung, is already being sang? And what if every emotion that must have been felt, is already being felt? And what if every broken dream, is already being lived? And what if, this what if didn’t exist and we could just make the best out of it? But again, the question why with no answers will always be there” and when she stopped and bowed with the biggest of the smiles proud of herself to the empty auditorium, the sound of a faint clapping came to her senses. And there, making her way down from the door to middle of the huge place was this red headed girl, with a smile on her face and still clapping to the performance Alexis had just give to her.
