Check out what he has to say, and don't forget to drop by the store next Friday night to see some of his work! 🏀 HV: Out of the series of NBA legends that we're going to display next week in the exhibition, which is your favourite - either as an actual player / or your favourite to illustrate? CBM: The Larry Bird and Penny Hardaway are probably my favorite illustrations out've the bunch. Kyrie still by far my favorite player....as a little guy he does it all on the court in a rugged yet smooth sort've display! 🏀 HV: Have you been over to the UK before, or have any interesting UK connections basketball wise? CBM: I don't but a close friend and basketball teammate played for the London Leopards for a few seasons. And another buddy just moved back from living there for 8 months on a short stint. I hope to visit soon! 🏀 HV: We're going to have a DJ dropping some tunes for the exhibition opening. What 3 tracks would you pick to get people in the right mood for checking out your NBA Legends series? CBM: Hmmm thats a tough one. MURRAY /// Ahead of the @chrisbmurray NBA Legends exhibition, that will be curated by @anyforty at our store on the 28th July, we've asked Chris some questions to get to know him a bit better. Here's part 1! 🏀 HV: Which NBA team do you follow, and what drew you to that particular team? CBM: I haven't followed a particular NBA team since Iverson played for the 6ers or J Dubs for the Kings. Basketball was so much more exciting to me back then as a whole. Now I follow players more so Kyrie, Westbrook, Curry, James, Durant. Kyrie's my guy though! 🏀 HV: What's it like being a basketball fan living in Philadelphia, given the 76ers struggles? Do people trust 'The Process' and see good things for the city in the near future? CBM: I'm not from Philly originally (upstate NY born n' raised). I wish I lived here when Iverson was a rookie. He changed the game. I used to paint my bootleg Reeboks to look like his signature Question shoe. But like most cities, they only back the teams when they're good. Everyone still wears the gear / hats etc but the stadiums don't really fill up until the team starts proving themselves again. 🏀 HV: You cover quite a wide range of subjects in your work from movies, TV, animation and music, but seem to come back to basketball quite a lot. What is it about the sport that keeps you putting pen to paper? CBM: Basketball was my first love. I've been drawing forever but I loved basketball as a kid. I worked just as hard on my game as I did on my art...unfortunately I come from a small town in upstate NY where nobody really looks for basketball talent. That and I'm only 6 foot...so art seemed like a more realistic profession. So I guess now I put my hoop dreams on paper haha! ✌🏻️ You can see artwork by Chris at our Chris B. Pretty stoked that yesterday, I found out I'm in the last 8 of @anyforty's competition. I'm not fussed with winning, obviously, it's always a bonus. But giving myself sometime to do something I've just not had chance to do, was a better prize than anything. Thanks to anyone that's said they dig it. I appreciate that a ton.
