One thing about ao3 that everyone takes for granted is their pro erotica, pro nsfw stance. There are plenty of websites used for or dedicated to fanfic hosting that either frown on nsfw and erotica or ban them altogether; ao3 specifcally defends your right to post them, and indeed the otw considers them an important part of fandom worthy of protecting. Thats a massively progressive stance that people often forget is progessive
