To a king so used to the world working in his favor as the Mother Goddess intended, there wasn’t much of a difference between the little ancient device on the table and the scientist explaining it to him, except one of them could talk. Which, if what Robbie had heard from Impa and the court poet, was an unfortunate necessity as Rhoam preferred his goddess-given servants to be quiet and submissive, but he rarely bothered to retain any information that didn’t directly pertain to his royal authority and the control he held over his kingdom.
And so it fell on Robbie to explain the most basic functions of his work to the king over and over again, silently apologizing to the machines for Rhoam’s ignorance, for them being little more than embellishments for the king’s meaningless displays of power, subject to his whims in much the same way toys were to a particularly careless child.
And the king cared just as little what he broke in the process.
Robbie suspected he didn’t understand half of what he was told, even when the machines he had him built were insultingly simple distortions of what Ancient Sheikah tech was capable of. And worst of all, it was better this way. Who knew what a man like Rhoam, who saw a threat to his authority when his daughter so much as looked at an ancient screw, would do with knowledge of the very things his ancestors feared so much they broke the sacred bond with their fated protectors, and condemned them to a life of hiding and misery for millenia to come?
Over time, most Sheikah had come to accept the outcome of the royal family’s betrayal, and while Rhoam certainly wasn’t happy that they evaded his control, the servitude of the few who left their villages had placated him enough to no longer see them as a real threat. So much of their culture was lost to time and the refusal of those in charge to keep their true traditions alive, they simply couldn’t do anything but accept their role as the king’s tools.
Or so he thought.
Robbie watched as Rhoam turned to inspect a device with the same feigned interest he showed Zelda when she talked about anything other than her training, and Robbie felt a sudden wave of anger washing over him. His usual cheerful smile dropped the instant the king’s attention was fully on the machine, but true to his Sheikah nature, he showed no other signs of his true feelings.
The boldness with which Rhoam demonstrated his control over the Sheikah was infuriating. So convinced was he that he was untouchable, he didn’t even bring his guards with him. And why would he? Robbie was nothing but a lowly slave to him, after all. He was likely unaware that the Sheikah still practiced their fighting skills in secret. Perhaps it didn’t even occur to him that a Sheikah could be a scientist and know how to kill someone.
Robbie knew he was fast enough. It would be child’s play to cross the distance between them, draw one of his trusty knives, and slit the king's throat before he could turn around in that silly cloak of his. Any actual child with even the most basic training could point out all the ways he left himself open to attack.
But of course he knew what this would mean for his people. One wrong move could undo centuries of staying unnoticed, and convince the king the Sheikah were as dangerous as the legends and rumors said they were. And Robbie was well aware of the stories he heard back in his home village, about the atrocities done to their ancestors for the unforgivable crime of advanced technology. The lives of countless people hinged on Robbie playing the king’s good little servant.
If it was just between the two, the bastard would be bleeding out on the lab floor by now.
Oblivious to the scientist’s thoughts, Rhoam turned back to him and tasked him with writing a detailed reports on his latest project, and Robbie simply smiled and assured him it would be finished the next morning.
hi!! so thank u so much @thebattlecats2001 for this extra request fleshing out more of tigo and reader and their place in the alternate timeline w the champion successors
i wanted to make it a little different since you've got such a great idea and this is wrapping up this version of the tigo au! the request is summarized down below :)
all credit to @thebattlecats2001 for the ideas presented in this!!
~~~~~~~
The fight with Ganon is over, so the warriors gather for one final banquet while they swap stories. The successors from the future tell about the brave efforts of Tigo and the reader from their timeline, and how they paid honor to them over the years.
~~~~~~~
~~~~~~~
Calamity Ganon was sealed away for good, which meant that it was time to celebrate!
The king arranged an impromptu banquet in what was left of the castle, gathering food and supplies and whatever they could. The heroes of Hyrule deserved only the best, of course.
You were ushered away from helping clear debris and aiding the injured by Zelda, intent on telling you about the celebration that would happen later. Once everything was tended to, you met with the Champions, their successors, Zelda, and Tigo in a courtyard lit by lanterns.
It was a truly beautiful sight, the worn and weathered smiles of your colleagues gleaming in the lamplight. The food on the spread makeshift table looked absolutely wonderful, making your stomach growl in anticipation.
You settled in next to Link with Tigo on your other side. You looked up at your Lynel, smiling at his bright eyes taking in the bountiful food and anxiously awaiting the chance to dig in.
"Before we begin," King Rhoam announced from the head of the table, "it would be my absolute pleasure to congratulate the Champions of Hyrule on their success at defeating Calamity Ganon!"
There was a loud round of applause as the Champions, including Tigo, nodded in acknowledgement.
"Lest we forget the wonderful help from their friends, as well!" Zelda stood up and gestured to the successors, most of whom looked bashful. "Without their strength, we would not be here to celebrate together."
There was another round of applause for the successors, and then the feast began. You and Tigo feverishly dug into the food in front of you, filling the cavern of your stomachs. It wasn't until you were well into the second course that Sidon spoke up from across from you.
"It's truly amazing that I have gotten to see you again, dear [Y/N]," he said, watching you as you dabbed a napkin around your mouth. "It's been quite a long time."
"So you've said," you smiled at him. "Tell me, Sidon, does anyone else remember us from your time? It's still weird to know that Tigo and I...well, we didn't make it in your time, right?"
"Correct," Sidon nodded solemnly. "You and your Lynel sacrificed yourselves alongside the princess and Link to stop Calamity Ganon. And when Link came back, we wished that perhaps you had survived the same fate as well. But we learned that such was not the case."
Tigo paused from eating, tuning in to Sidon's change in demeanor. Tigo purred softly, catching Sidon's attention and bringing a smile to his face. Sidon reached forward and patted one of Tigo's paws affectionately.
"Fear not, old friend," Sidon offered, "we still remember you. The Zora greatly appreciated everything you and [Y/N] did for the Zora and the entirety of Hyrule. There's a grand statue at the front of the Zora Domain to pay homage to you both, spear and all. The elders that fought alongside the two of you tell the young guppies of all your valiant efforts! Your memory will never be forgotten."
"That's absolutely admiring," Mipha looked up at her brother. She turned to you with a sure look in her eyes. "I'll make sure that construction on that starts right away. You two have done so much for the Zora, and we have only begun to thank you."
"Oh, that's not necessary," you blushed, waving the praise off. "Tigo just loves the Zora, and it was all no problem! Really."
"Don't the Gorons have something as well?" Sidon turned to Yunobo who blinked up, startled. All attention turned to the little Goron, making him sink into himself a little with a shy smile.
"Uh, yeah!" He squeaked. "Yeah, we do. Tigo has this huge statue right up by the statues of the other great Gorons!" His face fell momentarily: "From what I heard, the Gorons were devastated to hear of the passing of Tigo and his tamer, [Y/N]. He was a beloved warrior and strong soul, so it wasn't a question about paying some sort of homage to him."
Tigo brightened up, growling kindly and urging Yunobo to go on.
"There's this legend that Tigo's spirit gives the Gorons their fighting spirit," Yunobo explained, looking around animatedly. "It's the only reason why the Gorons survived as much of the Calamity as they did. Legend has it that we owe Tigo a lot, and from fighting next to him I can see why! Every half-moon we hold a ceremony and offer up the best rock roast to the statue of Tigo so that he gives us our fighting spirit to live on another day. It's a really cool time."
"That definitely sounds like something the Gorons would do," Daruk smirked, reaching over to pat Tigo on the back heavily. "You deserve it, little Lynel man!"
"It's hard to believe that the Rito would ever be as showy as that," Revali scoffed, crossing his feathers. He looked over at Teba. "Please tell me you're more refined than that."
"Actually," Teba began, making Revali throw his head back with a soft groan, "our statue for Tigo and [Y/N] is arguably the most attractive out of the others in Hyrule."
There was a moment of arguing between the successors, which just made you laugh and look over at Link who was also smiling at his friends. Tigo gave a soft roar, telling Teba to continue.
"First of all, it's made of the finest wood surrounding the Hebra Region," Teba leaned forward as he got into the story. "It's decorated with flowers and stands right at the entrance to Rito Village. Tigo's bow was recovered from the Calamity, and it's still kept with Revali's bow and the Rito Elder. Every year there's a competition between the younger Rito that takes place at the archery range, and whoever wins gets to take home Tigo's bow and is tasked with taking care of it."
"I'd have to argue that the Gerudo have a much more glamorous statue," Riju jumped in excitedly. "It's this massive stone statue in the middle of Gerudo Town, and it has the most lovely gems decorating it! I've heard such wondrous stories of [Y/N] and her bravery and strength when it came to raising and taming Tigo." She turned to you and Tigo, smiling widely. "I'm so grateful that I was able to witness your bond in person! It's much more amazing than just the stories. We have you riding Tigo's back and wielding your sword and shield, of course. It's the most adored object in the entire town, and I will make sure it stays that way."
You smiled, patting Tigo's hide and leaning on him. You were so glad that even though you had to sacrifice yourselves in the other timeline that it was done and acknowledged. You would have done it even if it wasn't praised, of course, but it was amazing to see how many lives you and your Lynel had impacted and for such a long time! Your heart warmed at the thought.
Sidon went on to continue how the rest of Hyrule took the passings of you and Tigo. You sadly learned that many of the surviving Hylians thought that you and Tigo were simply myths. They didn't seem to believe that taming a Lynel was even possible, mainly because the monsters had gotten so much more dangerous in their 100 years of Calamity.
The Sheikah, however, still tried to keep your memory alive. Sidon told you about Impa's attempts to pass along the stories of you and Tigo through the ages. Many of the elders in Karkariko were solely responsible for keeping your memory alive, and you had much to thank them for. You half wished that you could go back to their time and tell Impa how much you appreciated her efforts even after so long.
Sidon also told Tigo how he was a legend among blacksmiths in his Hyrule, and how Tigo's skills were incredibly sought after and the goal of many blacksmiths. There was even a myth that if you were a young apprentice to a blacksmith and were exceeding in your skills, you would get visited by the spirit of Tigo and given a blessing of strength to become one of the best blacksmiths in the history of Hyrule.
Of course there was no concrete evidence to this myth, but it made Tigo exceptionally excited nonetheless.
And that was that. You may have suffered a terrible fate in that separate timeline, but in this one you didn't. You were still alive to see another day with Link, Tigo, and Zelda, and surrounded by the best friends you could ask for.
The successors were summoned back to their time soon enough, and the goodbye was tearful but sweet. Both sides had gotten closure, and all there was to look forward to was tomorrow.
Summary blurb:
Link had held out the bouquet for her as Terrako had scampered around her feet. The bouquet was lovely... 15 perfect blossoms tied together neatly with a blue ribbon thoughtfully chosen to match the blue of the flowers themselves. "Oh, thank you! Thank you so much. They're just lovely. This certainly brightens my day!" Terrako's excited beeps had made both her and Link laugh.
Eventually she'd worked up the courage to tease Link. "I take it Terrako carefully picked all of those flowers and then he somehow managed to tie the whole bouquet together?" Link had looked at her with a gleam in his eye. "Of course. He's a talented little guardian."
Little Lynel Man (part 12)
[Tigo the Lynel AU]
MASTERLIST
warnings: slight mention of blood, age of calamity spoilers
~~~~~~
The shuddering came suddenly, quaking the entire earth and throwing everything off-balance
Ganon was here, and he was mad
Malice grew and grew, encapsulating almost everything in sight
But you were prepared
The Champions headed to their Divine Beasts to fight off the monsters and malice in their territories
You and Tigo stayed at the castle with Link and Zelda, gallantly fighting off monsters
But it was early in the battle that you caught wind of the appearance of Ganon's blights
You tried to make your way to the closest Divine Beast to assist your friends, but the monsters held you back
Tigo also tried to fight through the crowded battlefield, but more and more Guardians and Moblins swarmed him and kept him busy
You slashed with your sword and blocked with your shield, but it wasn't enough
You were soon overtaken by the monsters and fell under their grasps
Link saw you go down under the claws and flying limbs, rushing to help you just as a Guardian shot a laser in your direction
Tigo bellowed and attacked with all his might, but he wasn't able to get to you in time
But then! There was a flash of blue light different from a Guardian's laser!
You felt something sharp wrap around your shoulders, and then you were yanked into the air and far from the horde of monsters beneath you
You blinked up through the debris and blood, and saw a white bird clutching you in his talons and flying you to somewhere safe
A sing-song beeping noise sounded from beside Link as he watched you rise into the sky, and he looked over to see Terrako trilling happily
Just then, three other figures (and a seal) erupted out of nowhere and took out many of the monsters with surprise!
Link looked around and saw a smaller Gerudo with a sand seal, a very large Zora, and a shaking Goron fending off monsters left and right, and even taking some off of Tigo's back
The white Rito dropped you on the ground and saluted you, then flew off in the direction of Vah Medoh
The Divine Beasts' lights had turned red from blue as Ganon's control grew more and more and the blights attacked the Champions inside
The malice grew larger and the blights more powerful, overtaking the Champions and sapping their energy as they fought
Then, salvation came! The newcomers summoned by Terrako swept in and aided the Champions at the last second, fending off the blights and saving their lives!
Back at the castle, you regained your composure with Tigo, Link, and Zelda by your side
And sized up in front of you was Calamity Ganon, in the flesh, rearing his ugly head and glowering down on Hyrule with hatred seething from his maw

getting close to wrapping this series up!! i've loved it so far, thank you 🥰
Hiya, can I get a matchup for any Zelda character? I don’t have a preference in terms of game. Any gender is fine!
I'm nonbinary with pale skin, freckles all over my body, and curly ginger hair. I'm about 5’8, and a bit broad shouldered. I wear glasses with a tortoiseshell brown frame and I have a tooth gap.
I am an INTP. I love nature and the outdoors, and going hiking and exploring abandoned buildings and caves. I’m fascinated with theology and the occult. I can get excited when talking to friends and embarrass myself. I play video games a lot, mostly fantasy, roleplaying games, and strategy games.
I like music, but I suppose everyone does, to some extent. I'm a bit of a science nerd but and I'm fascinated by biology and ecology in particular. I like history, archaeology, and anthropology too! I would consider myself observant, but only with things that interest me. I'm absolute garbage with social cues, and I'm often confused and assume most others hate me. My friends say I'm passionate, loyal, and funny. I value my own individuality. I often use fantasy-based escapism as a coping mechanism. I'm a bit emotional and it doesn't take too much to make me cry. I have a tendency to get overstimulated in public.
I hope this is adequate! Thank you for your time!
hey thank u and you're welcome! hope you like it :)

LOZ Matchup!
Based on your characteristics, I think you'd do best with......
Impa!
~~~~~~~
~~~~~~~
definitely would bond over shared knowledge and interest in hylian theology and kakariko practices
i would see you as kids growing up together and developing a mutual respect for each other
you would have explored all the nearest mystical places around kakariko as you two grew up
and as you got older and impa started working for zelda, you would travel with her and explore even more of hyrule
she'd definitely want to learn a lot about the sciences and things you're interested in
you'd probably be good friends with her sister, which would both drive her insane lol but also make her like you more
you and impa are definitely on the same page when it comes to being crap with social cues and being confused lmao
you two are partners in overthinking most things
which can be great bc then you can relate to one another, but it can also kind of suck because you'll fuel each other's fire ahhh
impa's a fan of more quiet and contained situations, so i think you would both favor those and spend a lot of time together on your own
she does have a cautionary worldview and would innately want to sit out most adventures, but she'd totally tag along without an issue if you wanted to go somewhere
you guys are probably the most loyal pair out there and literally everyone loves you two together
and she's so supportive! with the amount of time you spend together, there would definitely be a balance of you also spending time apart
I'm a 5'4 female who dies my hair often, usually a cherry red but it's naturally brown. I wear glasses, tan easy, and love to swim.
My hobbies are writing, drawing, coloring, dancing, and music. I enjoy reading but struggle to stay interested anymore.
I am bisexual and a cancer sun sign with a cancer moon and a Sagittarius rising. I am drawn to water and the moon.
I love learning, and am very loyal.
I am prideful with a short temper and can't handle men yelling at me well, but I'm fiervly loyal to My People
hello omg thank you for being so so patient i really appreciate it. i'm incredibly sorry this took so long to answer! thank you so much for the request <3

BOTW Matchup
Based on your characteristics I think you'd do best with.....
Impa!
~~~~~~~
~~~~~~~
The two of you met in Kakariko while you were there on a personal trip you were taking to learn more about the mysterious Sheikah
Luckily for you, they were a kind and peaceful people who let you in and allowed you to have access to almost anything you needed to research their lifestyle
Impa had gone back to her home village on a few, begrudging, personal days away from the princess and the castle
She noticed you while you were out once, late at night, gazing up at the moon in awe as it seemed to look even bigger in the small gorge the village was nestled in
You were only taken aback slightly by her silent gait, but soon enough warmed up to Impa and listened to her stories about growing up with the Sheikah and the training she endured her entire life
While you were there, you learned a lot about the Sheikah and were so fascinated by the beauty of the village and the people that you couldn't help but express it in art
Impa adored this and even asked if she could have a few that she wanted to hang on her walls
Impa thought highly of you after those few days you spent in Kakariko together, and she insisted you come with her back to the castle to meet Zelda and the other Champions
You all hit it off graciously, but you didn't like Revali all that much because of his shot temper that butted heads with your own
There was one instance in which you had accidentally gotten in his way while he was training, thus eliciting him to snap and raise his voice at you
Impa knew how much you hated to be yelled at, let alone talked down to, but she became too nervous to step between you and the feathered warrior
You spat back a few of your own insults before Revali's words really got to you, and then you promptly stomped off toward a nearby gathering of trees to be alone
Impa was furious at Revali. She walked right up to the pretentious Rito and gave him a piece of her mind, fueled with the fury of seeing you being treated like garbage
You didn't deserve that, and Impa knew that all too well
She chased after you and comforted you, letting you know how wonderful you are and that his words meant nothing, then forcing the Rito Champion to apologize a day or two later for his outburst
Impa really appreciates your calm nature because sometimes she can really get out of control or lost in her own thoughts
Impa loves to take you to the festivals held around Castle Town because you'll just get lost in the music and lights, casting a wistful gleam in your eye that she just can't get enough of
She loves to watch you dance along with the entertainers, even sometimes allowing you to pull her in with you and dance together
She'll bring you books from the Sheikah library in the hopes that you'll absorb all their information that you love, but she also knows how hard it is for you to stay focused sometimes
If you ever feel bad for inadvertently hurting her feelings by turning down something she wants you to learn about or read, she'll completely understand that burnout is a very real thing and sometimes you just need to rest and recharge
The two of you are truly yin and yang, where you're able to balance her scatterbrained behaviors and she's able to bring out the curiosity in you
Sometimes there are moments like this. Moments when his head feels tense for no reason, when he’s far more aware of the way he’s breathing, when there’s this tingly feeling he can’t quite place, but it’s unpleasant enough to make it difficult to keep his mind focused on work.
He just wishes those moments wouldn’t happen while he’s working on the more delicate parts of Terrako’s wiring.
His hands are shaking. He won’t be able to get anything done today. Just a routine job, he told the princess, shouldn’t take more than an hour or two. Now he’s sitting in front of his disassembled friend and his hands are shaking too damn much to put the poor thing back together. Somewhere between now and the hazy memory of taking Terrako’s back plate off his head started to hurt, in a way that makes him think of cleaning pots with his mother, and something deeper hurts too. (Then again, maybe it is just a memory of how sick he felt that day, because of the injury from his training accident and not because she never looked at him long enough to notice, of course.)
Look at you, failing even at things you're supposed to be good at.
He’s apologizing now, maybe to Terrako for leaving it in this state, maybe to his father for still making mistakes when he should be better, maybe to both and to the princess for being too much of a failure to perform even the simplest tasks, be it training or fixing a guardian, and what else does he have going for him that would make people see any value in him, really?
He’ll have to ask Purah to help him with this—Terrako’s repair, not the other things—and he’ll have to come up with a convincing reason why. If she doesn’t happen to stop by his lab and find him staring at Terrako like he’s never seen a guardian before, that is. Then he’ll have to deflect her concerns and tell her it’s nothing, he’s just a little out of it today, and convincing her of that is considerably harder.
Worst of all, he’s not sure what he’ll tell the princess yet.
