one of the best parts of age of calamity is the fact that the champions actually get to interact with their descendants. like mipha and sidon's interactions are so heartfelt because yk they're siblings, daruk and yunobo have very lighthearted convos w daruk constantly telling yunobo to drop the formalities (not call him LORD daruk) and they're just silly, and then urbosa and riju getting along as urbosa treats riju like she does zelda because she sees that riju is young yet has so many responsibilities as the gerudo chieftain from 100 years in the future.

and then there's revali and teba. queue revali centric rant under the cut ...

can you imagine traveling from a universe set 100 years after the champions fell and hyrule was in this weird state of limbo as calamity ganon just existed and suddenly you're teleported 100 years in the past to help save the champions. keep in mind that the rito champion isn't even related to you, you literally just idolize him because he's arguably the strongest warrior the rito have ever had and 100 years later, no one has really surpassed him OH AND he created an aerial technique that was previously thought to be impossible for the rito. the point is, he's the goat and you train everyday to try and be like him. so now you're actually fighting alongside him and manage to save him from succumbing to windblight with the help of link and then BAM. the champion you've idolized all this time turns out to be a moody teenager with too big of an ego for his own good (worst part is be DOES have the skills to back up his boasting) who also sass mouths everyone.

so after windblight is "defeated" revali "thanks" link by saying "we would've been just fine without you ... but i suppose it's good you came" and scoffing, teba says "i never imagined the champion would be so ..." and is cut off by urbosa saying "hold that thought." I always wondered exactly what he was gonna say, the champion would be so ... bratty? rude? arrogant? HOWEVER in the latin american spanish version, he says the following:

which literally translates to "i didnt imagine that he'd have such a character" like bro is lowkey flabbergasted to see that revali is the way he is. and urbosa cuts him off saying something along the lines of "we can talk about that later". and on top of all that, teba is a dad like straight up a father and i like to think that yk besides all the revali glazing the teba does in age of calamity, revali and teba did at least get to bond a little especially since revali is young (likely the same age as zelda or link hence the little cheek markings he still has similar to younger rito and his short stature, teba TOWERS over him whenever they stand side by side) and is also likely an orphan (no mentioned family AT ALL) and teba being a father himself mightve seen through this facade revali put up. especially since urbosa says "we can talk about that later" and then there's this scene at the end where they perhaps DID talk about it later

like what do you think they talked about at the flight range? idk so many possibilities for father figure teba and moody teenager revali AND baby tulin.

i just think they're neat.

Y’know, Tulin becoming the new Rito Champion in place of Teba (assuming/hoping Teba became village chief) makes sense when you bring AoC into the equation.

Terrako brought forth the new champions into the past to save the original champions. Yet we find out later that there’s been sighting of a young Rito (which Teba immediately realizes is his son) and they go to rescue him.

Terrako had pulled Tulin into the past. Tulin had survived on his own for presumably days/weeks/months. (I don’t remember the exact timeline, I need to go rewatch/replay that chapter) And he was like… eight. And we see in the cutscene afterwards that he almost mimicked Revali’s Gale perfectly, calling it Tulin’s Tornado (which is absolutely adorable) and Revali actually praised him.

It’s been hinted at all along that Tulin is one of the new Champions. He and his father.
