AOC’s (almost) full recounting of what happened on january 6, 2021.
it’s *harrowing*.
revelations:
-AOC revealed that she is a survivor of sexual assault
-she received warnings from others reps that danger was coming on january 6
-the MAGA insurrectionists began arriving in D.C. days prior and showed open hostility to AOC & others outside the capitol
-the day of, she was in her new office with one legislative aide, a man named G
-they heard huge violent BANGS on her office door. G told her to hide- she fled to her bathroom when she heard knocks and screams: “where is she?!”
-she thought she was going to die. she begins crying as she recounts. i broke down
-the bangs were by a “police officer” without a badge or uniform who told them to go to a specific building without any further instruction
-petrified, she and G fled to the building; she ran in her high heels
-they didn’t know where to go and ended up spotting katie porter in the hallway. they sheltered in place with her and her staff for 6 hours
-she knows that if nothing is done, if there is no accountability, this will happen again. so she will go to the wall to ensure that there are consequences
i definitely wept when she talked about thinking her life was over. what would we do without her?
