Hope or Despair? What will you choose? [Closed with Arthur, Post-Despair]
One last hug was given to the now lifeless body of Pierre before she placed it gently underneath the tree, right beside all the boxes of the deceased students. Fifteen boxes were now gathered at the roof as Miriam had decided this would be a better place to rest than the lecture hall.
Wait, fifteen boxes?
Yes, Miriam had prepared a box for Shika and Nui, even though she couldn't quite forgive them for what they had done. Actually, no, it was more about Nui than Shika, who was at least sorry for her actions... Still, Miriam thought it would be disrespectful and she could do at least that much.
Silently, Miriam prayed and made her final goodbyes to the dead students, throwing last glance at the boxes and Pierre, before she turned around and started to leave the garden. Truthfully, Miriam would have loved to take Pierre along with her, but knowing Arthur's reaction to it or... well, anything with toys, she had decided against it. At least PiePie could be with everyone else, right?
It was a childish thought and Miriam knew that, but these little things were one of the reasons that made her keep going. Staying positive had been always some kind of motto to her and for the last few weeks, she had disregarded it far too much, so it was time to return to it again. To stay truthful to it.
To herself.
As she left the building again, Miriam shuddered slightly at the sight she was witnessing. Sure, she had already seen it beforehand when all of them were getting out, but this didn't make it any less awful. The blonde was still struggling with the idea of being responsible for so much death...
Then again, they couldn't be sure if this was the truth.
How on earth could twenty teenagers screw the world over? It was a ridiculous thought, considering many things, but they couldn't be sure if Nui was merely lying or actually speaking the truth. Thus, they needed to investigate, maybe even trying to regain their memories... What took them even away? Why was this insane game even a thing in the first place?
There were still so many questions left to be answered and Miriam was determined to find them.
Though doing so alone would be incredibly difficult, but she knew she had friends that helped her. They were a team now and they would do everything in their power to change this despair-filled world.
One of them being Arthur, whom she had spotted not far away from her current position. A smile spread over her face as she walked up to him, re-adjusting Valentino's hat on her head. Yes, she was still holding onto it - it was a memento of a dear friend, after all!
Hands behind her back, Miriam tilted her body a bit to the side as to come into his vision, the smile still lingering on her face. "Hey, Arthy, what are you thinking about?"
