for the last few years i've been on a kick of "ethernet seems the most similar to firewire" especially for audio with every node on the network being a peer (instead of host-device like USB and thunderbolt), full duplex communication and every node also potentially acting as a switch. also using basically the same cable (eventually with the same termination even but that came later and is mostly just in aircraft).
then last night i ran into this article, and it's basically like "yeah it's the same guys carrying over some of the same protocols" anyway shout out to those guys, hope to get into more of your stuff soon.
