I was sketching Zel when I realised that I'd never actually drawn all of the Tar siblings together. Huh! So, here's everyone. They're even lined up youngest to oldest going left to right. In brackets are their birth names if they go under a new one.
Yuned'rar (Yuned’tar) was sold into slavery after he was orphaned and kidnapped. He trained as a Sith and was a Lord for a few years before running off to Tatooine where he now lives with his partners, their collection of animals, and works as an historical linguist at the museum in Mos Emos (where he grew up).
Aola'tar was also sold into slavery but she wasn't discovered until a few years ago. Yuned'rar took her under his wing to train as Sith but the power and her newfound free went to her head. She tormented her own Apprentice but eventually locked herself up in the Tar's old estate on Dromund Kaas and occasionally sends death threats to her brother.
Zelada’afa (Inun’tar), as his younger siblings, was sold into slavery but a Jedi Master happened upon him fairly early on, taking him to Coruscant when he was just nine. Since then, he had joined his brother briefly in the Empire before escaping again during the chaos wrought by the Zakuul Empire during the war, and has returned to his Jedi roots, albeit he's currently working on Nar Shaddaa in Djonwi's shop as well as a babysitter for his three children.
Chee'tar is the only sibling to have remained on Ryloth and has, surprisingly, done rather well. As a teenager, he joined a theatrical group in the capital city, performed and toured, and, nowadays, is one of the theatre leads. Chee'tar also had a brief stint in politics, but ultimately returned to performing. He settled down with another performer and has a few children of his own.
@saljamka and I were discussing Yuned’rar, Aola’tar, and Zel when they were toddlers and children, and I just had to share it here because some of the images are ridiculous.
[14:27:06] Lisipuska: I had a cute image of Shakka and Dinek visiting Yun with little Lyn, and her climbing onto the big bantha, and Yun just floating her off it and into his arms all, "What I said about climbing up there?" and she's just all "sorry, uncle yunee :<"
[14:27:06] Lisipuska: :3
[14:27:21] Saljamka: aaahhh
[14:27:23] Saljamka: yes
[14:27:31] Saljamka: Uncle get to see the babben
[14:27:34] Saljamka: and play
[14:28:05] Saljamka: is climbing a Tar bab thing, or just a bab thing...
[14:28:36] Saljamka: I think Aola was a climber too
[14:29:14] Lisipuska: I... I don't know. I always imagine Yun just putting everything on his damn mouth and chewing on anything he could get his little hands on
[14:29:34] Saljamka: some are climbers, some are chewers
[14:29:57] Lisipuska: Yun was way more interested in climbing into small spaces
[14:30:01] Lisipuska: getting stuck
[14:30:01] Lisipuska: xD
[14:30:07] Saljamka: bb Yun no
[14:30:39] Saljamka: bb Yun: A TALL THING, AHMA CLIMB IT
*is now stuck*
bb Yun: I regret everything ;A;
[14:32:06] Lisipuska: he was more:
bb Yun: IS THAT A TINY CAVE?? I BET THERE'S SOMETHING COOL INSIDE
*climbs into tiny cave, gets a little stuck*
bb Yun: NO ;A;
[14:32:50] Saljamka: and you just hear him start crying and you know.. somewhere.. he's stuck
[14:33:15] Lisipuska: when he was at home he'd get caught behind couches, in closets, under beds
[14:33:24] Lisipuska: in cupboards
[14:33:43] Saljamka: did they have to try to Yun-proof the house lol xD
[14:34:01] Lisipuska: probably xD just like they Aola-proofed it
[14:34:32] Lisipuska: keep all the places Yun can reach closed, the couches flush against the wall, don't leave chairs or stools by counters for Aola
[14:35:12] Saljamka: I just imagine her sitting on top of the fridge one time with no way she could get up there..
[14:35:25] Lisipuska: I was seeing that, too
[14:35:39] Lisipuska: Zel's the one who knocked everything over and broke random things
[14:35:49] Saljamka: how was that house ever calm
[14:36:43] Lisipuska: Jela: What happened??
Zel: I WAS JUST LOOKING AT IT
Aola: THE FRIDGE GOT TALL
Yun: *crying in a dark cupboard somewhere* ;A;
[14:36:52] Lisipuska: Chee was old enough not to get into shit by then
[14:37:45] Saljamka: God, they did not have enough arms to comfort and clean up after all of them
[14:37:57] Saljamka: unless Chee helped
[14:38:26] Lisipuska: Chee helped as much as he could, and I'm sure Poy's parents would come by, too
[14:38:32] Saljamka: tiny claw marks on the counters with Aola trying to climb them lol
[14:38:49] Lisipuska: the legs of all the furniture gnawed
[14:39:05] Saljamka: scratches and dents on the insides of cupboards
[14:39:10] Saljamka: glued-together plates
[14:39:37] Lisipuska: well no goddamn wonder Poy was such a ball of anxiety
[14:39:50] Saljamka: Poy no xD
[14:41:10] Saljamka: the temptation to put them all in a baby-cage with a top on it and a lock..
[14:41:29] Saljamka: but then Yun would cry because it's a small area and he can't get out..
[14:42:57] Lisipuska: and, I don't know about the other kids... I know Zel was always crap with the Force, but I imagine bb Yun started really goddamn early with it. it's like each kid they had was better/stronger in it than the last. I always imagine that Yun, when getting too scared, would just do something randomly. shove a chair across the room, flip some furniture, static something
[14:43:02] Lisipuska: which'd just scare him more, ugh xD
[14:43:29] Saljamka: yeaaahh bb no calm down
[14:44:25] Lisipuska: bb Yun: *stuck under bed* ;A;
*whatever furniture nearby slides the hell away into a wall*
bb Yun: oAo ... ;AAA;
From a couple nights ago, saljamka and I were discussing time-skip things in regards to KotFE.
Uh, I’d brought up the terrible things a little earlier but not the full convo carried over from the iPad to the PC for some bizarre reason.
Saljamka: to continue - And [Aola’tar (Yuned’rar’s sister)] never really knew her aunt, so she wouldn't really know what was happening :)
Alisa: :3
Alisa: Yun already doesn't feel very safe telling her a lot of... anything :3
Saljamka: oh good, and of course she has no idea ha ha
Saljamka: seems things are already in motion :3
Alisa: Yun's just pretty sure if he let slip "I don't like Sith and don't agree with the Empire on a lot of things" that Aola'd just blow up
Alisa: tell me I'm wrong
Saljamka: Oh no, she'd probably puff up like an angry cat. And go on a rant about how this was the only thing that kept her alive when she was taken away from family, and he should be more grateful
Saljamka: If he really riled her she'd say something awful :)
Alisa: Uh oh
Alisa: Like what
Saljamka: that he'd still be a nobody slave if it weren't for the empire :)
Alisa: And he'd just go "right, I'm not talking to you anymore :) "
Alisa: This is all terrible
Saljamka: I figured he'd go something along the lines of "Ha ha nope, I'm out."
Saljamka: I blame you
Alisa: Yeah, it's my fault this time
Saljamka: I hate you, weh
Alisa: He's not planning on saying anything to Aola, but with them being siblings, how long can that really stay a secret?
Saljamka: and yeah.. she'll probably feel something sooner or later :)
Yuned’rar took off his headgear and set it aside while his sister sat down beside him on the cantina couch, stretched a little and then slouched back against it. Yuned’rar curled up a bit and fiddled with his lekku a bit.
“Hmm,” he hummed to himself a little.
“Do you need a hug?” Aola’tar asked. Yuned’rar shrugged a little and leaned against his sister who nodded and hugged around him, giving him a peck on his head.
“I am not sure I like where this is going…” Yuned’rar said quietly.
“Hm?” Aola’tar peeked over at him and her brother waved a hand gently.
“The relic.” He paused and looked at his sister. “Right – you did not get its message.”
Aola’tar shook her head and squeezed him a little. “You want to tell me?”
“Well, that’s just rubbish,” Aola’tar said, furrowing her brows.
“It felt like – like the monsters I would see before…”
“Maybe it managed to look inside for something unsettling to use against you.” Aola’tar tried to cuddle him up a bit more. “It might not actually be connected… Do you think there is a connection?”
Yuned’rar put an arm around his sister and frowned a bit. “Bi’ev put a shield on to protect my mind from those Force monsters. I am not sure if just anything could break through that. But I suspect it would be easier if it were connected.”
“Do you think it’s safe to study it? Maybe Bi’ev could look at it for you.”
“I will ask him for some assistance, yes,” Yuned’rar nodded a little. “I would just rather not rely on him so – extensively.”
Aola’tar shook her head. “No, but–” She sighed. “I’d worry about you working on it too much. If it’s already managed to break through…”
“That is true, yes.”
“Can I ask you something?”
Yuned’rar tilted his head a little and peeked at his sister. “Yes?”
Aola’tar tooka short break in and out. “If you are going to study this yourself, can you please have someone with you while you do? Even if it was just me.”
“I was planning on taking it to Bi’ev. I am still learning this myself; I would miss something of import.”
“Just in case. Please?”
“I will. I promise,” Yuned’rar nodded and kissed his sister’s head.
Aola’tar opened her mouth, but promptly shut it again, just continuing to hug him.
“It will be okay,” Yuned’rar draped a lek around Aola’tar. “I was just – startled by it.”
“You know I’m worried.”
“I know, sister,” Yuned’rar nodded a little.
“I don’t want to lose you again,” his sister rested her head against him.
Yuned’rar gave Aola’tar a little squeeze and another brotherly kiss. “That will not happen, Aola’tar.”
“I can still worry about it…”
“I know you can.”
“You’re concerned, too.”
“Of course I am–”
Aola’tar turned her head to him again. “Why can’t I feel it as much?”
“What you mean?” Yuned’rar asked, looking at his sister for a moment.
“I don’t know,” Aola’tar sighed. “I have to look and listen for how you’re feeling. I can’t feel it well.”
“I may be keeping things back from the bond…” Her brother shifted on the couch a little.
“Why?” Aola’tar didn’t look angry at least. “I could handle it.”
“I am not sure,” Yuned’rar thought for a moment and shrugged his shoulders. “I think I did not want to worry you or Shakka’tar. Maybe I would be – overwhelming.”
“Maybe. But that’s what we’re here for. To help care for you. For each other.”
Yuned’rar sighed a little and nodded. “I have been stupid about that. I realise it.”
“You haven’t been stupid,” his sister squeezed around his waist. “You were trying to look out for us.”
“I just made you worry more, though.”
“You did what you thought was best, right?”
“I did, yes,” Yuned’rar said. “But it was probably – not right.”
“Then I forgive you. You did what you thought was the best thing.”
“I cannot just – release all that on you, though. Or on Shakka’tar.”
“Maybe there is a way to be gradual about it,” Aola’tar rested her head against him again. “If you’re worried about it, just open up a little at a time.”
Yuned’rar exhaled and nodded a little. “I can try to. I do not want to overwhelm you though.”
“As long as everyone knows and talks to each other, we’ll be fine.”
“When you want me to release a little?” Her brother tapped his fingers on his knee a little.
“Could you do that just to me? Shakka’tar doesn’t know; it might shock her.”
Yuned’rar nodded and, well, released some of the feelings he’d been holding back. His sister took a slow breath in and out, even her lekku twist around a little.
“I see…”
“...Sorry,” Yuned’rar wrapped his lekku around himself.
“Don’t be sorry,” his sister shook her head.
“You are okay?”
Aola’tar nodded and gave him a reassuring squeeze, even sending some good feelings back to him. “I’m fine, just a little surprised.”
Yuned’rar leaned against his sister, unwrapping his tchun to wrap around her instead. His sister smiled a little before moving her own lek around his shoulders.
“Is there anything I can do to help? With anything.”
“You have already helped,” Yuned’rar smiled at Aola’tar a bit.
“Tell me how and I’ll do that more,” she smiled back.
“Just what you did now. Sending those – warm feelings. Comfort. It helps.”
“If I ever sense you feeling back, I’ll send those to you. Even more than now.”
“Thank you, sister. I appreciate it. I try to do the same if I feel that from you or Shakka’tar.”
Aola’tar nodded and sister-kissed his head. “I’ve felt that.”
The blue crystal was a gift from Yxaxajj and I just put it in all his sabers because I like to match and I really, really unexpectedly liked the colour with him!
