okay so like nerd will would be an obvious thought BUT HEAR ME OUT...not nerd will. he’s just average smarts. he does his homework and he does well on tests but he’s not extraordinarily gifted he just floats through doing his average best
now grell okay maybe she switches to will’s school some time during the school year bc of reasons (parents new job? bullying? who knows) and she’s in like ALL of will’s classes he keeps seeing her everywhere. she just kinda overlooks him bc he’s boring and he doesn’t talk much she thinks he’s uninteresting
BUT THEN!! she joins the drama club bc of course she does and will does backstage stuff probably bc he needed an extracurricular and figured making lights shine onto a stage would be the easiest thing to do (also his friend alan (bc they’re FRIENDS) is very good at sewing and helps with costumes) anyway grell sees will there at a club meeting and she’s like OKAY WTF ARE YOU STALKING ME?? and he’s like “um you are the new kid if anyone is stalking anyone else it’s you stalking me” and she’s like “...touche”
that’s the beginning of their weird friendship grell still thinks he’s boring but he’s cute and has a really dry sense of humor that has made her bust out laughing when they sit together at lunch. and will thinks she’s kind of weird but they have a lot in common and she’s?? really pretty?? and he’s like what is this how do affection
then eventually they date and they’re really cute ron gags every time he sees them and even tho they aren’t that popular they win cutest couple in the yearbook bc THEY’RE THE CUTEST COUPLE
