The birds were paying attention to him and his familiar, attracted to the little lovebird that was hiding against his neck and under hair. It was very obvious as the tropical birds came to the edge of their enclosures and flew to kept near. Peacock was next to his side, pecking at his hand in demand for attention. He really wanted to be saved right then and there... (to laurence maybe?)
doing his rounds is a must for the avian keeper - in order to prevent people from touching the birds, or making sure that said birds are alright - it’s only because of this that he was able to see what was going on in the first place.
birds gathered in one area, clearly singing, both as a welcome & a warning, territorial cacophonies that he had yet to hear from quite a few of the species - it was enough to warrant his attention, and with a quick pace he stopped by the enclosures, eyes resting on the back of the other man’s head.
his first concern was that the birds were potentially being fed or bothered - which he was going to make VERY clear was not going to happen on his watch - however, the more he observed the other, the more he realized that there was.... something by his side. a BIRD to be precise. new terror was that the other had somehow taken a bird, but that was clearly impossible - which meant that he had brought in his own bird.
a huff of irritation - eye twitching briefly. ‘ SIR, WE DON’T ALLOW ANY ANIMALS THAT AREN’T SERVICE ANIMALS IN THE ZOO. ‘ how the hell he got past security with that bird, he had no idea, but the security guards were certainly in for a tongue lashing later. @witchcry
