Aoyin or Ao Yin (獓狠)
JPN: Edit: it's actually Gōin (傲因)
Meaning "ruthless" in both languages
Is a legendary beast or yaoguai (yokai as they are referred to in Japan) from Chinese mythology. It is one of the mythical beasts featured in the Chinese classic text "Classic of Mountains and Seas" (山海经) as well as one of the ten fiercest beasts.
It is an ancient being, born in the netherworld, and is said to be on par with Qiong Qi (穷奇 qióng qí) also known as Kyuuki by the Japanese. It is shaped like an ox or bull with the exception of four horns and long straw-like hair.
Aoyin feasts on the flesh of living creatures and has a particular appetite for human flesh. It is said to live up in the mountains.
It is also said that Ao Yin enjoyed wreaking havoc in our world so much that powerful ancients (unclear which ones) had to banish Aoyin to Peng Lai Xian Island (蓬莱仙岛 péng lái xiān dǎo) using magic to imprison him in a space he is unable to leave.
The Aoyin is a bull-like creature found in the Bestiaries of China. The Ayoin is said to resemble a bull but with four horns and straw-like hair. Unlike most bulls, the Aoyin is a predator and is said to devour humans on the mountain where they lived.
China has an Animal Problem
China is another vast place in wich many other monsters live alongside the everyday human. Now as its said, China is a very traditional place the monsters are just the same. Many of their monsters have animal backgrounds and are often unholy mixes of such. Shen: This monster is a shape shifter. It's main form is a sea monster that creates elaborate illusions or a shape shifting dragon and is often associated with funerals. There are three types of these sea monsters that change their form over a period of time. It is said thanks to these variations of swallows and sparrows, bats and oysters, that they also have the capability of their illusionary magic. Jiangshi: These little buggers are mixes that are vampire and zombie. Their name translates to rigid bodies and their sole purpose is to absorb the qi of the living and killing them in the process. These creatures can also breathe life into inanimate bodies along side making one from bones and rotted flesh. They are souls that cant leave the body because of being murdered/suicide or misbehavior as a living being. These ghoulish creatures sleep in their coffins or hide in the dark. Some can even be found in caves. Common characteristics of these creatures are red eyes, sharp claws and a green skin tone. Ao Yin: This bull is a legendary creature within China's old bestiaries. It has features of an ox with the exception of four horns and straw-like hair. It was known to devour human flesh and believed to live in the mountains. Fei: This is not our faerie friends but instead a bull with a serpents tail, white head, and an eye on it's forehead. This is a despicable creature that wherever it steps nature will die, the plants wither, and the lands become barren as the rivers dry. This creature is believed to bring about misfortune and foretells of it to the locals. Baize: This is a snow white creature that only appears when the nation is being led by a wise king it is said. It speaks human language and is able to comprehend the nature of living beings. Xiezhi: This creature is a cross between a unicorn and a dragon with the ability to tell the difference between right and wrong. That being said it is a righteous creature and will wipe out the wrong doer by either goring them or biting them. In stories it is known to butt into the guilty party with it's horns. This creature also has reletives in Japan and Korea.
