AP-Hotspot 0.3.1 Released
AP-Hotspot 0.3.1 is available in the main WebUpd8 PPA.
Changes:
ap-hotspot now works with Ubuntu 14.04 (can't test it in Ubuntu 13.10 but it might fix the Saucy bug too)
New way of displaying notifications which fixes the notifications under Ubuntu 14.04
Check for active hotspot before stopping
Mention that the DRIVER OR wireless card doesn't support AP mode
Use a separate /etc/dnsmasq.d/ap-hotspot.rules file instead of /etc/dnsmasq.conf and rename the hostapd config file to /etc/ap-hotspot.conf for consistency
Use hostapd -f when it supports it, not the other way around
Use wpa2, fix default configuration error with 2 or more wireless cards
Important: AP-Hostpot doesn't work with Realtek RTL8192CU chipsets because Hostapd doesn't support this out of the box (you need to a custom Hostapd build and newer drivers for this but since it's so complicated, I didn't add support for this to AP-Hostpot).
Description: AP-Hotspot automatically creates an infrastructure (Access Point mode) wireless hotspot in Ubuntu that should work with Android and Windows Phone devices. The script uses hostapd and dnsmasq and it requires Access Point mode support for your wireless card - AP-Hotspot checks for this automatically and won't run if your wireless card doesn't support it.
