“close your eyes for a second,” he murmured, fingers brushing gently against her neck and collarbones as he secured the pendant around her neck. hephaestus was good with his hands, and with a lack of work, he found himself getting restless. wanting to do something to keep his hands busy, he’d made a pendant for the love of his life. it wasn’t much-- something made of old bullet casings and stupid things like that, but he thought it was beautiful in its own way. just like her. she was gorgeous, but really, what attracted hephaestus to aphrodite wasn’t that-- it was what was on the inside, and other little things too. “okay, there,” he said as he finished with the clasp. “a little something to celebrate how good you are at your job, no?”

it was almost a routine now, seeing the other male every other day with a new guy around his arm. at first, riley paid no attention to it and it was only the fact that he had come to learn the other’s order off by heart that he’d take the time of day to look at the man’s date. through the few brief conversations he had, riley had learnt that the man was constantly being set up by his parents and that the coffee shop was one of his favourite locations. riley couldn’t help but chuckle at the time and entered a sport of unspoken agreement with him to ensure that he was as comfortable as possible at all times.

today’s man looked rather... generic. considering the other men he had seen the man walk in with, riley assumed that the parents were running out of options. not serving anyone allowed him to lean against the counter and wait for the other to notice him to which he gave a little nod and wave, acknowledging his presence. he rolled his eyes a little playfully as if to signal his own opinion of the date, matching it with a smile.

“wouldn’t it be nice to plan a gala?” perseophone mused dreamily, chin resting on her hand. “everyone’s so stressed-- it’d be so fun and everyone could relax. plus, i know some great caterers......”

“you know i love you, but god, please stop making that face any time i bring up my husband,” persephone groaned, pushing demeter’s shoulder. “i appreciate the concern, but it’s misplaced. he’s my husband. i love him. and i love you, and i want to talk to you about things that make me happy.”

“i don’t like these fancy clothes, though,” dionysus whined, following his mother to whatever stupid-ass event she had planned out next. “i’m a gangster now, you know. dad’s making hades groom me. so i can dress like them-- i don’t have to be all fancy. i’m a man now.”

“i know you may not think it necessary, but zeus insisted i accompany you on your errands today. something about rising tensions,” poseidon muttered awkwardly. “i know you’re capable of taking care of yourself, but i’m hardly stupid enough to deny him. if...you want, we can pretend like it’s not me being your bodyguard, though. for all intents and purposes, i could just be helping with errands? i’m good at carrying bags?”
