Ranking of Timon of Athens Characters
Apemantus: savage and relatable af, actually the best character tho, so woke
Flavius: loyalest dude that ever lived
Timon: way too trusting but in a sweet way, got screwed along the way, afterwards hates the world, also relatable af
Alcibiades: decent guy, seemed Timonās only good friend, i fully support his attack on Athens
The Bandits: super honest for thieves, i like them
Painter, Poet, Jeweller, Merchant: okay people, not really cunning enough to trick Timon out of his money
The Senators: not really sure whoās side theyāre on, but i donāt hate them all that much
The Servants: gossip central
Lucius, Lucullus, Sempronius, Ventidius: terrible people honestly where do you even find people like that wow theyāre harsh; do not understand the meaning ofĀ āfrienshipā andĀ ānot taking advantage of people who are nice to you because that is who they areā
Why have I never heard about Apemantus before?
Iām only on Act 1 Scene 1 of Timon of Athens and Apemantus is rivalling Beatrice for most insults per minute. Some prime examples:
Timon: Thou art proud, Apemantus.
Apemantus: Of nothing so much as that I am not like Timon.
Painter: Youāre a dog.
Apemantus: Thy motherās of my generation. Whatās she, if I be a dog?
This guyās been onstage for about 30 lines and there are so many of these. Iāve never read this play before and Iām so fascinated.
Timon of Athens Characters as Vines
Apemantus: *jumps into trash can and rolls away*
Timon: *crying* āwell itās been a great day today, canāt WAIT for moreā
Alcibiades: āhoney, youāve got a big storm comingā
The Senate: *trying to turn off loud rap music* āno no nO NOā
Flavius: *climbing into dryer* āiām disgusted. iām revolted. i dedicate my entire life to our lord and savior jesus christ and this is the thanks i get??ā
Sempronius: *kid doing listerine shots* *screams*
The Fool: *screaming ātainted loveā to strangers from another car*
The Lords: āyou know what, iām going to say it. i donāt care that you broke your elbowā
Friendships full of dregs Methinks false hearts should never have sound legs. Thus honest fools lay out their wealth on curtsies
